:mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: Oh, talk about Dell Hell! Admittedly, I made one of those youth mistakes. It was to let my boyfriend use my name to buy a Dell, especially taking out a loan from DFS. It was some 4,000 in total including the principal and interest. Got some 1,000 left to go. I should have read the fine print. I was a stupid 19 year old! My now ex is taking advantage of this, and Dell has not been making it easy for me either. I already owe some 400 dollars that was overdue, and my ex didn't even pay since April! Dell has even refused to transfer the sole responsibility of repaying the loan to my ex's name even though he said it was OK and even called Dell himself. But the only way for this to happen is if I die! HELP! I don't want my credit rating ruined by this in case we do plan on getting a house in USA, and I have other bills to pay now that I have graduated last year... how can I get around this? btw, I am living in Norway and married to another man. It would be hard for me to sue in USA. Other solutions, other than ignoring this and let it go, and winning the lottery? Maybe I should file bankcrupty so I dont have to pay this. However, I intend on paying off my student loan and already paid off other credit cards. I just don't think I should pay for my ex's Dell, even tho it was purchased in my name.

Get the lawyer to makr arrange to sue your ex-boyfriend to pay for all.

I wouldn't use someone to use my profile. Never!

The moral of this story is to NEVER lend your name in loan or purchasing items to anyone even if it is a boyfriend you thought you'd spend the rest of your life with, or a friend and all! I hope all of you learn from this. OK? It was a painful lesson for me.

Um..it's impossible to sue your boyfriend..

The judge would just say that you took the responsiblity for it.

Here's what I would do...I would apply for a small time loan and pay off Dell with it..then you would face your small time loan montly payments.

I had a 4 yrs of lease for a car...in 3 yrs later..I had problems making the payments so I had like $3,000 left..so I applied for a $3500 loan..with only 3.5% interest...compare that to the car's 7.5% interest...so I actually made only $53 a month..compare that to car's being $270 a month..so you see how it got easier on me..and it didn't hurt my credits. :D

Laza, Poor girl.. your bf ruined your reputation names and credits. that is sucks! your mistakes you made. next time, never let your man using your name and credit in future... that why i never allow anyone using my high quailty credits nor sign co-sign for whom.. i was glad that you are the young wise adult.

FYI, Dell is prorgam and system SUCKS!! I won't buy dell in future.. becasuse of my friend had problem with Dell program and software system in His Dell PC.. Geez..

dang Liza -- that totally SUCKS!!!!! :(

i had an ex gf who wanted to borrow my name for a loan and i flatly :thumbd: cuz i knew she was VERY undependable to begin with she has tried to talk me into agreeing to it but i stood my ground and refused telling her she oughta get it herself with her own name! :thumb:

ckfarbes, it's Liza not Laza. One can only grow stronger from mistakes, or sink. I'd rather not sink and it's not the end of the world.

Flyfree, you wise person, you! :D
Love doesn't come without blinders. Unfortunately, in some cases, anyway. I'm just glad my husband has a sense of humor about these things... and oh, Chris (ex) just replied saying he is making auto payments now for Dell. I'll wait and see what happens. He's very unreliable and rather inconsistent. Ugh. I'm just sick of hassling him. *squeezes his scrawny neck and gives him a wedgie under his kilt*

 Liza -- i SO TOTALLY uddy how u feel with ur frustrations -- hang in and all will come out just fine and if ur ex shows hes not consistent with his comments -- have u thought of filing civil charges against him q :dunno: if that would work from Norway to USA uhmm

but as for DELL itself -- i would NEVER buy Dell!!!! :thumbd: my ex roommate's compy crashed and had a hell of a time getting Dell to send replacement HD oh sheesh  after seeing what happened with the ex roomie and the linkie i read u had posted in this thread the more im not at all surprised abt Dell's reputation -- glad i dont have Dell!!!!

Liza- ouch.. I understand your frustrations. Your ex is unreliable jerk who has not yet paid the payments. It is so frustrating for you. Once both you and ex signed the agreement form, then it is more difficult because you both agree to pay for the computer. I understand that you learn from your mistakes. We do make mistakes.

I flatly refuse to do co signing for anyone who begs me. I do care about my credit ratings PLUS I have to pay back on my college loans (it sucks).

By the way, I planned to get DELL computer last year, but I weigh the options on the variety of computers. I picked IBM. It works beautiful (of course, I have to take care of it) unlike my old HP Pavilion 3265, which gave me many problems.

I wish you good luck on choking your ex and finding ways to reduce monthly payments.

Hmm, it might work... *snicker* why don't you try to get your ex boyfriend sign some kind of agreement paper stating that he agree to pay partially of it and you pay partially too...50/50 payments or something and have him sign his name. If he doesn't pay, then use that agreement paper, file at small claim court and you will have some proof to show -- AGREEMENT PAPER that he signed, he'll be screwed

Edit:
Hopefully he's dumb to sign agreement paper.

Heather -- that sounds similar to a pre-nup agreement only difference is that this would be for unmarried couples living together -- dont forget notarization too Heather :)

Yes unless have witness and/or solid evidence. I know Oral agreement is pretty difficult. :|

I don't blame on Liza for her huge mistake. Sometime, feel hard to tell if love come true or foolish. I was young I spend lot of $$ included running up so high on my credit cards. then broke up. feel soo suck. There is no way to pay back because not sign the agreement even not make oral agreement, too. Taught me very tough lesson like Liza feel that way.

hmmm, I might be wrong...I don't think it require notarization? Like for example, someone bought something from me - lets say custom built computer system, I wrote down receipt how much he/she paid for and the remaining balance he/she owes me whatever the amount it is and have that person sign. If that person didn't pay the remaining balance he/she owes, I can file small claim court and sue for the remaining balance he owes, show them piece of paper with his/her signature.

Just like I said above, to have her to get her ex boyfriend sign some kind of paper with signature, that should be sufficent?

Sorry, I watch too much JUDGE show on TV.

yes thats right -- i just think notarization is an added security for the person who is loaning the $$ and if the ex partner doesnt pay up have the paperwork on hand and it being notarized would look better id think -- if i was in that situation i would have my own agreement paper signed in front of a witness and notarized for added protection
