Has anyone successfully managed to color their hearing aid tubing? I left tubing in various dyes and inks for weeks at a time but every one of them always washed almost clear afterwards. I can't do anything that adds to the dimensions of the tubing or makes it heavier (beads, charms, etc.) because my skin condition gets very upset by increased hearing aid weight, but I find the clear tubing extremely boring! Thin tubing has been a boost for my skin problems but now people can't really tell that I have the hearing aids on at all so I find it tricky to get people to understand where I'm coming from when I don't hear them. I want them to scream "hearing aid" but since most people want them "discreet" that's what we're getting. *sigh*

Not that you won't bite my head off again, but here is a link to where you can buy colored tubing, pre-bent.

Colored Tubing

Thx, unfortunately I wear thin tubes, not standard #13, so I need to either get Siemens brand tubes in other colours or figure out how to colour them myself. Anyone successfully home coloured any?

I don't purposely bite heads, but sometimes have to be very economical with characters if I am posting on a phone or voice activation software cos I'm sick in bed/hospital. It's hard to formulate a sentence that makes sense in a few characters and have the system understand you not translate it as total bunk! I try to come back and edit my posts later to be a bit more "warm" but if people have already replied it's not always worth doing.

I didn't know Emtech offered colored tubings... Can you just order the tubing alone and they'll send them directly to you?

I already have pinkish tubing with my earmolds, to "mesh" with my skintone I guess. I don't know, my audie made the order, I didn't even know there were colored tubings available. Will have to check this out, since I can't do colored molds.

Wow, shipping to me is $6 for a single tube. Hmm.... Will have to order several (always good to have spares, right?) to make it more worth the shipping price.

Yes, they will sell directly. I always do my own tubing.

Will definitely give it a shot someday. Get a variety of colored tubings just for the fun of it. Order 20, shipping is still $6! haha I did a little playing around.... I'm kinda bored right now. :)

Do you know if the colored tube has a "ring" on it so it stays in the earmold better? or is it just a tube with no ring attachment? Emtech doesn't have a picture for the colored tubes so I have no clue.

No ring. There should be an online catalog there too though.

I use clear rubber bands for hair to hang earring things off my tubes. Reduces any noise problem from metal rings. Gives an optical illusion, and if you have skin sensitivity problems it might work.

Excellent lesson for students when I am substitute teaching, and good reminder. :D I did my "quiet behavior" talk with a special education co-teacher in the room, and I could see by the expression on her face "What on earth is she getting at?" Later I saw her and she gave me a big humorous grin.
