PLEASE NO BASHINGS! THANKS!

Here is other question and we can discuss.... I know some deafblind people, and they feel like they are rejected by deaf community. Some are full blind, and some deaf people are scared to use tactile signing. They also are feeling "left out" because they aren't invited to any outing, and some deaf people that was supposed to be friend- DB people ask if they can join, and their reply is "Sorry, my car is full". That happened to me before, so I decided to be less involved with deaf community. I only go to ones in Twin Cities that are accessible to busline or paratransit services.

Sheesh. That doesn't sound very nice.

Why is it you think that someone who OUGHT to understand what it's like to deal with unpleasant reactions and bigotry from others, would think it's OK to dish it out to others?

Obviously not everybody would act like that, but why do you think someone would be so lacking in understanding that should be MORE understanding than, say, a hearing and sighted person?

Question for us, do you have difficulty seeing? I'm just making sure I understand that it happened to you or that you saw it happening to someone else.

Honestly, I rarely see them so how do I know their feelings were being hurt? I am sorry they had to go thru this.

If I can say something a bit blunt as an outside observer, this simply goes to prove that if there is one universal constant in human nature, it is hypocrisy. We're all so quick to see how others persecute us, and slow to act when it's another who's being mistreated! Nobody's immune to it.

Whenever I stand up for people who are being mistreated, I get labeled a hypocrite by the mistreaters. How ironic! :ugh:

This makes me sick. You probably have been unlucky because I have some culturally Deaf friends who are good friends with deaf-blind people. Still, it ticks me off that people would be doing this to you.
