I will be nervous if something happen to me.. I must be strong what to do .

DETROIT (WJBK) - A woman says she was robbed at a gas station in Detroit but did not get any help from employees, even after they realized she was deaf and could not call 911 herself.

Shakira Magee says she was waiting a gas station on Telegraph and Six Mile roads for a nearby store to open when a man came up and tried to speak with her. She motioned she could not hear him since she was deaf, and says he smiled and walked away. She continued texting but says the man came back, pushed her, grabbed her phone and took off in a car.

She remembers crying and asking for help. She wrote a note to the clerk asking him to call 911, but says he kind of shrugged her off even though she made it very apparent she needed help.

The manager at the gas station, Souna Hadi, tells FOX 2's Robin Murdoch the clerk did not call 911 because Magee left before he could get her contact information.

Magee admits she walked home scared and confused, and wanted to hurry home because she did not know if the man was coming back. She says she never reported the incident because she feared police wouldn't find it important.

Hadi says the incident is on surveillance video and will release the footage when a police report has been made.

In the end, Magee hopes awareness will come from this.

"Why didn't someone step up and help me and just call the police? It's as simple as dialing the phone," she says.

The manager at the gas station says they keep a notebook behind the counter in case of a situation like this. He adds his employee was overwhelmed by what was happening at the time and they all plan to learn from this.
