So tonight I had a Deaf moment, which was pretty awesome.
I stopped at the Gun store since I got my taxes, just to price the AR15 Im wanting and its out of stock right now. So, Im standing there looking and admiring all the guns and stuff, when one of the workers comes up to me to ask if I needed any help. Well, it wasn't the normal Hey, How are ya, can I help you with anything? Nope, sure wasn't.
He came up signing to me, said he noticed my CI's and asked if I was deaf ( as well as speaking) so I signed a bit but told him I can talk. So, we struck up a convo.... His daughter was born deaf and they had her implanted at 3yo. She is 18 years old now, but they learned sign because she is deaf mute, she can hear with her CI but cant talk, never learned to talk so they all learned ASL. Pretty cool, first time I really got in depth with someone about being deaf. Think Im going to go back up this weekend to browse and strike up another convo on guns and learn a bit more about the ones Im interested in.
