Deaf Kenmore burglar gets 3 1/2-to-7-year term : Police Blotter : The Buffalo News

A Kenmore man was sentenced to 3 1/2 to seven years in prison Friday for the recent break-in at a Cheektowaga bowling alley.

State Supreme Court Justice Russell

P. Buscaglia imposed the sentence on John DuQuin, 53, who had pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary.

DuQuin of Colvin Boulevard, broke into Airport Lanes, 3754 Genesee St., about 6 a. m. Sept. 7 and was arrested by Cheektowaga police as he tried breaking open a lottery ticket machine.

Prosecutor Kevin R. Wolf noted DuQuin, who is deaf, did not hear alarms that had been triggered before his arrest. DuQuin has 10 previous convictions, dating to the early 1970s, Wolf said.

Yep should've known that most places have anti-theft security, or wear the hearing aid/coclear implant when he hears the alarm blaring but...*scoffs* I admit that was funny that he was still there while the alarm is off as it made the cops' lives TOO easy when they caught him.

He needs to get in a different line of crime. perhaps auto theft or some thing that does not require hearing?

He just want the money for his drug habit. I knew him very well. 'Class with me' He dropped out from school at 9th grade. He has older deaf brother which disowned him. That's sad....
