I have mentioned before that I would be writing an academic paper on deaf education in the near future, the future has arrived and I need to get on the ball with my paper as it is due in two weeks.
I have a long list of books to consider checking out from the university library that I find relevant as I am required to have a decent amount of non-Internet sources used in my paper.
I also intend to use interviews and multimedia as sources in my paper, as well as drawing on personal experiences backed up with facts.
Shel and Jillio, I am going to have to say I need your knowledge of deaf education curricula and ask if you could point me in the direction of a very infrmative and reliable resource of information on deaf education in America.
As it stands right now, my paper will be organized as follows:
1. opening statement
2. The emgergence of ASL and the deaf community in America
3. The oral movement within deaf schools and institutions
4. The return of ASL in schools in the 1970s.
5. The deaf president NOW! strike at Gally
6. Current pros and cons of modern deaf education programs in US and abroad.
7. What can we do to ensure a fair and equal education for deaf, hoh, and hearing students in all levels of education ranging from primary to post-secondary.
I want an informative and well written paper. If anyone feels that their should be further editing to my outline let me know. I will also be contacting those that have offered to allow me to interview them this weekend to set up a time for an online chat.
