Our largest deaf education and awareness program plans have been approved for the Orange County building at the Orange County fair this July 8-31! We got the approval letter 2 days ago!

And for the first time its double the size we had in the first 5 yrs weve had it there.

The education booth is geared to the hearing communities and the fair brought in almost 1 million people and we handed out over 70,000 information packets. This year we will hand out 100,000 information CD's in a professional stand that was donated to us by a medical company.
http://www.airwork.com/?p=exhibit-booths The 10' by 20' platinum with rear illuminated windows for display pics.

We are fully inclusive in staffing representation from the ASL militants to the Oralists to the late deafened.

If anyone in AD wants to spend maybe 1-2 hrs at our booth, come on over we will give you tickets.

Update

Our booth is finished.

We had to toss 100,000 deaf awareness CD's because a company thats prominently placed in it is rumored to be engaged in unethical and inappropriate marketing practices. We cant be associated with a company like that. :sadwave:

We are sponsored by Oberkotter Foundation, Animated Speech Corporation, Family Empowerment Center, Radio Shack, Trader Joes, Oneill Wetsuits, Albertsons Supermarket, California Avocado Commnission, Law Offices of Morse Mehrban, Prestige Catering, Westminster Ice Arena, Law Offices of Jim Carver, Westminster Lanes, and our favorite fundraising supplier Gosa Toys!

Live webcam will begin Sunday.

Pics of our booth will be added tonight.

This going to be at least a red ribbon winner in the name of deaf awareness education.

Richard

Ok the pics of our booth. Note the professional stands had to be removed because we didnt know how to set it up right. Note our vrs demo. Note our brochures in Russian and Japanese. Note the display stand for our deaf accessories.

And in 2 weeks you will note that we have another blue ribbon.

Richard

Thanks Margie.

The 4 pictures are our educational machines in action. Note the captioned video on the tv about cochlear implants and many other things. Note the powerpoint presentation on our agency. And note the pc screen teaching fingerspelling and sign language.

These machines help us educate hundreds of thousands of people on deaf awareness.

Red Ribbon!

Our booth is a Red Ribbon winner. It was very hard competing against a giant trailer by the Santa Ana Police department with 9 large TV screens accross the walkway for attention. The 2 neighboring booths, the Crystal Cathedral's teen center and the Coast Guard didnt win anything.

Pictured is Rex who served in Operation Desert Storm and he's been a valuable resource to our Deaf-Blind program.

Congrats!!! :applause:

Thanks!

One of the benefits of such recognition like this are the invites to make presentations and to other community fairs and events.

We got invited to booth at 2 more community fairs and to make 3 presentations.

Thanks!

It can be ours over there if the FEC can raise our grant by $12,000 as that's the actual costs of operating the booth at the fair really looks like.

We've already started designing our booth for next year. Theme is flowers. And the 2 tube monitors will be replaced with LCD and plasma screens. And we will have our CD's redone to include fingerspelling and asl videos. One of Lou Fant's cousins will be involved in next year's booth.
