Deaf Discrimination and Inaccessibility at the University of Toronto

Does Canada have anything like the ADA in the US?

We have the Accessibility Ontarians with Disabilities Act. We also have a country wide law that states that ASL interpreters MUST be provided in medical, legal, and educational (there are more but I can't remember) settings. Regardless it is a human rights violation.

Vlog related to this!

I've had a look at your facebook group and I really feel for you. I'm at uni too and as I've mentioned on other threads, the teachers there have no idea of Deaf awareness. I use an fm system and I've had teachers putting the transmitter in their pockets during breaks and forgetting to put it back on again, or leaving it on a table at the back of the room. I'm doing a nursing course and we do a module called 'communication skills', part of it is supposed to be about Deaf awareness. They showed us a video supposedly showing what it's like to have a severe hearing loss! After it my friends all asked me 'is that what it's really like?' My friends have learnt more about Deaf awareness from interacting with me than from any stupid video, but still the lecturers haven't got a clue!

i am support to you I am agree you JennyB I understand you are frustrated, i hope be you complaint to talk to human right... I complain to interpreter is should respect to you I Hope be support to you...
