Hello everyone.....I'm new to the site and wanted to say Hi to everyone.
I am at the end of my interpreting program with about 4 classes to go.
This summer i am finally taking Deaf Culture/History. I'm looking for a good topic about deaf culture......any suggestions?

I don't feel I'm in the right position to tell you a good topic about Deaf culture, but :welcome: anyway!! Where are you going to school?

I am in the ITP program at Oakland community college in MI. The school is in Waterford, MI., a suburb of Detroit. I think I have writer's block or something......just cant come up with the right topic on Deaf Culture. Stumbled onto this website, and it's totally cool!! Instead of homework, i have been messin around on this site all afternoon!

Yeah, that's definitely easy to do! I'd say re-post your question under a different bulletin. (I just recommended "Our World, Our Culture" to someone else, and I think that's the best fit for your question)

Is your program a 2 or 4 year?

ITP Program

Hi-Yea, our program is new. It was started 2 years ago. It is a 2 year program
and we had a couple of graduates this year! Everyone was really excited about that!! As I am older, it's taking me some time to get through all of the classes, but like i said, i have about 4 or 5 more classes and then I can go take the state test here in MI. Yea, I'm freakin out!! I dont feel ready.....I still feel like such a baby in the field, but i guess that's natural.
Where would you suggest posting the question about the deaf culture topic?
I'm kinda thinking about something to do with the arts and its role in the culture and the turn things are taking in regards to the music industry and the deaf due to the computer......
If you want to see a cool video, go on You Tube and type in D-pan video. It should bring back the video 'whered you go'. Very cool video. Both the guy and the girl are deaf. They are both from MI., and I met the guy at one of our functions!!!, and the girl lives around the corner from me. Anyway
talk to you later.
