I am currently in an interpreter's program in college and am doing research on deaf parents adopting children (deaf/Hoh/hearing) I need specific info on things like laws passed for/against, current issues, statistics, ect. but am having some difficulty find it online. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be GREATLY appreciated!

I don't have specifics on Deaf families adopting-- however I am adoping my Deaf son... I've researched adoption for years....

These are just a couple of suggestions...

You may wish to visit Texas' fostercare/adoption site-- or the CPS (child protective services) site... and request information regarding your particular state... DFPS - Adoption and Foster Care

Another excellent source for information about adoption is Adoption.com
This should help get you started ~ Disabled Persons Can Adopt - Agencies, Agency, Department, Disabled, Guide, Mental, Parents, Private
there are a lot of different links at the bottom of that page that are full of information.

I know people who have disabilities that extend way beyond deafness that have adopted or are in the process of adopting... even people w/mental health issues. Each state varies and it's looked at on a case by case basis...

Good luck w/your research, if I can help in any way let me know.
