Hello everyone! That's me on this video, and I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me! Well I think that I have been implanted so young, I was taught to speak the language with verbal ensures that I speak so well today, we do not even notice that I am a deaf person ! I read lips very well and I've never had an interpreter before. The fact that I speak and I understand, I was taken to a hearing person .. But I do not mean like hearing the implant not give me perfect hearing! It is very difficult, especially in a group! So the fact that I was ill-judged, that I thought I was capable of well integrated with the hearing and that I would be happy like that. But they were wrong, deafness is somehow an identity, you need people around you, who understand you. Let us such a hearing in a class of deaf! It comprendera anything, was the same for me, the deaf and hearing it are two very different cultures so I can tell you!

She did share her experience here. Its pretty tough. That's why lots of them end up going to RIT/NTID or Gallaudet for one thing. IDENTIFY.


I am interested in seeing more of anyone posts here based on their experiences.

Sometimes people can view but can't post, if they are at work, at school, or on the phone, not a convenient computer. That sometimes happens to me. I can view but not post. If I see a thread includes links or videos, I wait until I get home to completely view and respond.

Sad story.. and happy to see there's hardly any similarities with Lotte..
Integration in the class and acceptance from other students is what is important. These things are well-established with Lotte. She has her friends there.
That doesn't mean things can change, but a solid foundation is in place.

Glad she found her place where she feels at home..
 
Believe so many of the LD'ers can relate to this also....even without a CI....There might become a time when you're thinking to yourself...."I don't know where I actually belong....feel as if I'm in the "middle".....and a lot of times, the older you get, the more you realize about the entire situation.

unfortunately this is the case around the world. it must be of a great convenience for you and Lotte to live in a tiny country with tiny population compared to where most deafies live.

mind you - she's French. just a stone away or two from you.

"convenience " - interesting choice of word...
 
I can understand her the difficulties in her situation, but she can't altogether blame the CI as I use one and hear fairly well. No aspect in life is easy, even the hearing have their own unique problems. She can utilize appropriate resources to enable her to live life to the fullest, but I don't think totally isolating herself from the hearing world is the answer.

she's not blaming her CI. she's just venting her frustration about hearing people's unrealistic expectation of CI.

Initially she does, cause-effect to judgement of her hearing ability, but like I said, all isn't a lost cause.

she is French lol...but you missed some key points..she is not from france lol she is from Quebec she's Canadian so not a stone throws away from. She signs LSQ quebec sign language and she says its subtitled to FR/EN. QC is not that tiny. Also this girl in all her other videos is talking in french with her hearing friends in the dark. So obviously she uses her CI and isn't alone etc.

I think it's only dark because of her poor cellphone video quality. And it appears that her friends are talking to her face-to-face as what she wanted but it doesn't mean her life is all that wonderful everyday. Like many of us, she still have a communication barrier with our hearing friends.

she's not saying that separating herself from the hearing world is the answer...she's saying she wishes she could have had both...and she's saying that functionally hoh folks have the right to access to both words, rather then being limited to just the hearing world.
