Well, the last couple storms that moved through were pretty bad, noticed awhile back the gutter on the rear of the house over flowing as it splashed on the deck and into the kitchen through the sliders screen... So today I ran the hose with a nozzle on it down the gutter and ewwww it smelled like Butt Crack.... but still wouldn't drain. Bought some stiff plastic tubing to run up the downspout but it wouldn't punch through either at the gutter connection??? spent 6 hours on it and finally gave in, I dreaded it and I fought with myself.... Found out I'm not so found of heights anymore...I guess after being out of the line of work after 7 years and all my injuries, I really did not want to get on the roof, the front of the house is about 12 feet off the ground, the rear of the house is a good 50 foot drop or more..... AHHHH, so I dragged my ass up there, I didn't want to hire someone just to unclog it, I was ok at first as I was only 8 feet up from the deck, but now I had to crawl across the entire length of the house about 75 to 100 feet to get to the end of the gutter, so I dickin around and don't know where the downspout connects, feeling around in so nasty water that smells like ass, ah, could this be it...ewwww, what is that fuzzy feeling thing.... some string, leaves and other decomposed matters, out came the pliers, nope that want get it, screw driver, prying around the edges, POP.... a freaking tennis ball !!!!!! Man the crap that flushed out of that gutter.... done. And not to mention, those shingles were HOT !!!!!

I was thinking a was dead animal stuck up or Santa Claus ! LOL!
I thought it may have been a birds nest floated down and clogged it since the birds build them everywhere here, or a dead squirrel? But just turned out to be a tennis ball lodged in the downspout. I was going to use hairspray and a lighter and blast what ever was in it out from the ground, but no one had hairspray and I was out of carburator cleaner

We have chipmunks running up our downspout all the time , I hope they don't get stuck there and dies. I wonder how a tennis ball got stuck there , that good you were able to fix it yourself . That would had been a bummer to pay to have a tennis ball removed.

yeah, lots of kids in the subdivision, think the back is too high for them, it probly came from the front and made the peak of the roof and rolled to the back side... it was a scary crawl to the end of the house...lolIMG_1274.JPG

That's how TCS feels, too (plus, we have a two-story house). That's why we're removing our gutters and downspouts and having rain diverters installed instead. No more clogged gutters.

I have a "leaf guard" on all my gutters. It's like a mesh that covers the top of the gutters, so the only thing that gets into the gutters is just water. That really helps that nothing can get clogged. Been using this for more than 10 years (my previous house and my new house), works like a charm.

Yes, Ive had them too at other houses where there were tons of trees. Out here there isnt many trees in the subdivision and those that are arent very big nor tall enough to make it an issue with leaves, just so happens to be a ball some kid lost lol

Totally understand. My previous home was full of huge oak trees so our yard was totally covered in leaves. At our new house the trees are much further back, so it's a non-issue for now, but we do plan to put in many trees this summer.
