I found my old audigrams and results from when I was little . In 1998 2 years pre implant in my left ear(i am now implanted in this ear) My results were 110 at 1 hrtz, 115 at 2 hrtz and no response at 4 hrtz.

in 2004 aged 14 in my hearing aided ear my results were right ear 1 and 2 hrtz at 120 db and no response at 120 and 100

And also I found a letter that states during audition alone to familiar sentences my results were 100 percent and I still got a CI?

Were this results the reason?

My results were 110 at 1 hrtz, 115 at 2 hrtz and no response at 4 hrtz.

Any idea at 250Hz, 500Hz, 750Hz? My hearing is also as bad as yours at 1000Hz and 2000Hz.

When you say familiar sentences, do you mean you got a list of sentences and can call them out, or like REALLY common sayings like "Hello" "How are you?" "Good morning"? Did the audiologist tell you those? Those are PRETTY easy, most deaf people usually follow the number of syllables. "Oh, Ah, Oo" would most likely to be interpreted as "How are you?"

Wow this is very similar to what I hear with hearing aids! I don't miss any vowels but many consonents are tricky or impossible. There was two words as an example online that I heard from my speaker. Snake sounds like "nake" and lizard sounds like aiar, that left me scratching my head. :hmm:

Hows your CI comming along? I saw your reply in another thread.

i remember one year i think it was when i was 14 or something i had to do the McCormick toy test(i dont know why i wasnt a child) to see if i could hear and repeat the animals in front of me. I kept hearing this "snake" word and didnt say anythng because I know there wasnt a snake on table. my audi thought i wasnt responding and i later told my mum i kept hearing snake. It was in fact goat or sheep lol

Yep! I heard like that with the HA too. I only heard vowels. Ironically, now, with the CI, I hear more consonants than vowels! I haven't been adjusted yet, but I am more sensitive to high frequency sounds than low. Meaning the consonants are more obvious to me than vowels. For example snake sounds like "SS uh K". I do self sound word tests a lot, and I notice that not only I use the number of syllables (like I did with HAs) but also the consonants in order to figure out which word is being said. Currently working on vowels! The next mapping should smooth out the balance between consonants and vowels though. :)

nope no idea, what i wrote is what the results stated many years ago, so I was profound in both ears?

Did you ever hear anything unaided before CI? Were both ears about the same with HAs or did you hear better in one ear than the other? Did you notice low frequencies being a little louder or much louder than the mids?

i never did and still cant hear anything unaided or without my implant. both ears were both the same

It's likley your loss was nearly flat to slightly sloping and begun at about 90db at 250Hz then. Did you ever hear any environmental sounds well or loudly with HAs?

You could always see your audiologist and get your residual hearing(if any is left) tested. I am getting mine tested on the 24th

deafteen,

My CI audis (former and present) tested my residual hearing 6 months post activation. Testing indicated that I'm totally deaf without my CIs.

I already know I cannot hear anything without my ci and aid. I never have had any hearing unaided
