hi everyone,

i had my ct scan and everything went well. the radiologist explained that the reason for my ct scan was due to the dizziness i've been experiencing. she also said that it was to help determine whether or not there was an electrical problem with my electrodes. i should have the results of the scan in another day or two. i'll keep you posted.

Hi Lisa, I was waiting for this! thank god you had it done, Hopefully you'll have some good news. Will pop in now and then to see the results. Good luck

PS The snow is wonderful, the best they had in 50 years! it just keeps snowing! The sounds are taken for granted.... skiing over snow is like wow! Boom boxes at the bottom of the mountian can be heard at the top of the mountian! many many more sounds! i was in awe of it all.

Hugs from me in snowy Austria.

charlotte,

that's awesome! one of the places i'd love to ski is austria. hopefully my wish will come true someday. :)

i will definitely keep you posted as to what my ci surgeon, audi and cochlear tell me. i expect to hear word back today, tomorrow or monday.

thanks, dreama! <hugs back> right now i'm waiting on pins and needles to hear the results.

Glad all went well and now that part is over. The next stage (waiting) will be over soon and then maybe you will have some answers.

thanks, et. i can't wait to find out the results because i'm totally perplexed (and so is my audi) as to why this happened. it seems rather extreme that i needed to have a total of 12 electrodes turned off especially 4 years after implantation of my first ci and 2 years after my second. all's well that ends well though. i'm hearing and understanding speech better than i have in 4 years. :D

im been experience Cat Scan when i was grew-up because i had history seziure when i was 12 years old but my brian have no problems but my mom took me to ct scan makes sure IF you have:

*Seziures
*Stroke
*Tumors

whatevers types you had of scans on test makes sure doctor tell you if you have seziure or not its no jokes for CT Scan but i did took that many times makes sure my brain ok.

my late grandmother had stroke for first times but my dad tell me about words S but my dad says dont worry about my grandmother but she would be fine and i says my grandma really stroke? and my mom says YES! but my late grandmother died July 2007 i will still in our heart of my grandmother when she in heaven.

thank you for that information sarah, but i don't have seizures. my ct scan was ordered because i experienced dizziness whenever i wore my ci's due to 12 high frequency electrodes.

Good Luck! My fingers are crossed that everything's okay and you dont have to wait much longer, Hear Again!

Hearagain,
Hope everything comes back OK.
How is your cold coming. Feeling better? Fullness going away?
Glad the mapping is helping you understand speech better.

I'd be interested if everything comes back OK and when your cold goes away if they can turn the electrodes back on and give you your old map to see if the dizzyness comes back. I'm sure everyone is interested. I think we are all still learning how CI technology works. The body had millions of years to perfect the ability to hear. Technology will take some time to catch up but all of us can help everyone else learn.

Interesting situation at my last mapping (3rd one). We re-programmed all the electrodes, made a couple changes and turned it on. Speech sounded almost normal for the first several minutes. Afterwards, the speech frequencies shifted back up to where they were before the mapping. I can hear better but it makes me think my ear is still healing and it will take some time for things to stabilize. I'm totally OK with how things are going. It is helping me hear and that is what I was going after. To put this in perspective, we have turned down my first CI significantly from where I had been at so I am really getting use to and depending on my second CI even after almost 3 weeks. To practice, I listen to music and watch movies with the personal audio cable only on my new ear and turn off my old one. I still remember from my first activation, it was between 3 and 4 weeks that many of the changes took place so I have not passed that yet. I know everyone is different.

Hopefully they can turn the electrodes back on, give you new maps and help you hear even better than ever before with no dizzyness.
Steve

hi steve,

i still have a dry cough with congestion, but no more sneezing. my right ear still feels full, but not as much as it did the day i posted my original question. i do feel alot better though especially given the fact that i am no longer dizzy when i wear my ci's.

i really do not want the 12 electrodes turned back on. i'm hearing so amazingly well that i see no reason to change what is evidently working. i don't care if i'm missing 6 high frequency electrodes on each side. to be honest, i really can't tell because when i listen to music, high frequencies sound "normal" to me and are no longer off-key. i'm also having a much easier time understanding children which i've had trouble with ever since getting my first ci and despite my second ci.

it's interesting that the sound of your map should change shortly after it has been programmed. i wonder what the cause behind that is? at any rate, it sounds (no pun intended) like you have a wonderful attitude about the whole thing and are taking things one day at a time which is good. that's the best way to avoid disappointment and receive all you can from your ci's.

How are you today hear again? I hope you are alright. (worried) I sent you a PM as you asked to have a pm if your posts were garbled because it meant something was wrong but I've not heard anything from you so I hope you are ok.

(hugs hear again)

i'm fine now, dreama. thank you for asking. i was pretty upset earlier which was the reason for my garbled posts. thanks so much for your concern and in the future, if you continue to notice garbled posts from me, please bring that to my attention. <hugs>
