Okay, so I am a hearing lesbian, but for the past months I've been working on some projects involving deaf people.

For this I am taking sign language classes and my teacher is completely hot!

I have no idea how to find out if she's lesbian or not and also I don't want to make her think that I want anything yet.

I am really not comfortable enough in sign language to flirt and surely not advanced enough to make it subtle...

So, what should I do? I don't want her to know I have a crush on her till I'm sure she's a lesbian, because if she's not I would still like to befriend her somehow...

Can anyone tell me how I could maybe find out and/or how to do some subtle flirting?
 
ha, how about asking the teacher for her opinion to see if your sign is very well or ask teacher for more dvds for learning how to sign on your own at home. This is the only way to start with in order to get to know the teacher better first before you determine what the teacher's preference. what if the teacher is taken. ummmm
 
Heh, good point, I don't think she is, but yes, you're right.

The thing is, I work in the same building so we pass eachother in the hallway a lot.

I also have her msn messenger and we sometimes talk, but she doesn't know English, which is hard for me, since I'm no good at her native language.

We do exchange e-mails once in a while, but I'm not sure if it's ok to get more personal..

I am actually trying to graduate from University in a couple of weeks, I have been working there for my graduation research.

Let me be more specific, since I guess no-one I know comes on this particular part of the forum...

I am a Dutch person in Italy, learning LIS.

She is a native Italian, and knows Italian and LIS, but no English.

I'm struggling with both Italian and LIS, but LIS is somewhat easier since you can use your body to emphasize things.

E-mail and IM is harder because my Italian is limited and I want to use subtle flirting in my language but feel uncomfortable in either of those two languages :S
 
Maybe, I'll try to bring that up..

But it seems that English would be hard, since even Italian is hard for her, seeing that LIS has such different grammar and all.

Some of my Italian friends can't read the way she writes Italian, but since I know a little bit about LIS I can find how it would translate and am able to understand most..

I hope I would be able to help her with English, but teaching someone an entire language, wow :)
 
Heh, I don't want kissing scenes just yet :)

Though they have crossed my mind, I'm interested in knowing her as a person first and of course, finding out if she's even gay..

LIS -> Lingua dei Segni Italiana -> Italian Sign Language
 
I am not sure how old she is and if she knows proper italian or dialect. If it's dialect italian she is speaking and or writing that could be why your friends cant understand it. Dialects are much different from region to region then alti-italiani or "proper" italian.
 
She is probably around 30 years old and she has a Roman LIS dialect, but no real dialect in Italian.

My other friend told me that she knows a lot of deaf people in Italy have trouble with the grammar of Italian because it's so different from LIS
 
Ask her to hang out in starbucks. At starbucks, you bring a laptop ... use wi-fi and go to YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. ..... then type "hot lesbian"... it pop up then try to get her to watch it with you. If she enjoy watching, then you'll know.
