i dont know about laws in america, but im sure there are some similarity somewhere...
there is 2 concepts that are different, many people thinks they are the same, its not.
Privacy and confidentality.
Privacy and confidentality looks the same
but NO, Privacy and confidentality are different.
Both of them means not tell another person about your private 'share'with the counsellor.
Privacy means keeping information between only YOU and the COUNSELLOR, cousellor not allowed to talk to other Professional a bout your case.
But Confidential means between you and counsellor AND cousellor if stuck, want to talk what best, can talk to other Professional NOT public, but only to another Professional counsellor OR your doctor, and no boy else.
Private and Confidential very similar
Both Private and confidential means can not share outside, not with public, not with your family, not with your schools, not with your boss at work.
Private mean counsellor cant share with another counsellor, it means cousellor not allow to talk about you with anyone. Period.
Confidential is same But can share with doctor or other counsellor to make clear. They can talk about you, but not with your name.
Professor and professional look the same,
but NO, Professor and professional are different
It doesnt matter if a person is a professor or just a qualifed counsellor.
A Professional counsellor with cousellor with a university qualification, or is very experienced, with lots of certificates. University qualificaton is not always, but it helps alot.
Professor is different from Professional.
Professor
A Professor is a special kind of academic in university.
A Professor is like a HIGHEST teacher lecturer in the university
you can have Professor in Chemistry, or a Professor in Social Work, or a Professor in Film Studies
Professional
a Professional is someone who is very skilled and paid alot for their service
a Professional football player is a football player who trains and play football as a job, they get paid alot of money, sometimes millions.
a Professional car theif, is someone who steals cars for big crimering who then get it painted and sold off as 'hot' or sold somewhere else far away for lots of money
a Professional hair dresser is someone who is the 'best' in hairdressing and does it for movie stars or famous people like Obama before he does public annoucements
a Privacy is best more safest, it mean cousellor not allowed to share your story with other cousellor without your permission
a confidential is safe but it mean counsellor can share concerns about your safety with other professionals in the same feild (counselling)
Easy way to remember:
Confidential have "C" that means CAN
Privacy mean "P" that means PRIVATE
