Why didnt anybody think of this? I think it would be a great idea.It would benifit Winter and Summer. With Current heatwave it would be too hot to go to an amusement park especialy in hersheypark. And when winter comes all amusement parks are closed up in northern states But when you have a domed amusement park its open all year round!

If it's too hot for you, try a water park instead. We have 3 waterparks here in the San Antonio area as well as Seaworld. :D One waterpark is part of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, there is SplashTown, and Schlitterbahn.

I hate waterparks.I want to ride on Roller Coasters and Wild rides. Also bumper cars,Race cars and other imaginary rides.

That already exist at Mall of America and the world's largest mall in Edmonton, AB Canada. They have indoor amusement parks.

They should add 6 indoor parks in the US My suggestions are Baltimore and DC area Youre right between Hersheypark,Six Flags NJ and Kings Dominon. Put one in near chicago.Put another near Seattle.Put Another near Denver.Put one in Las Vegas. And put one in Alaska.

I'm glad to see someone exhibiting a healthy imagination. Creativity is wonderful.

Let me see if I can inject some business sense into the discussion.

There are not yet any "domes" for any size scale you're talking about. Building something on that scale, of what amounts to hundreds or even thousands of acres, is not yet possible or cost effective.

The locations you've chosen should be picked on where it makes financial sense to build "indoor" theme parks. The places you've chosen have many factors that make them appear financially unsuitable to me, especially Alaska. There's no way in hell will Alaska ever be a place for a major theme park.

So, in short, "indoor" theme parks on the scale of Disneyland and Six Flags won't happen for a long time.

also they DO have indoor waterparks in some of the areas in US

i love waterparks hehe to cool me off when heatwaves hit HEHE

In the 70's near where I grew up, there was an indoor 'domed' amusement park and shopping mall called Old Chicago. You can see info at the following links.

and of course the Wiki with info about other indoor parks:

There were also many other links when I did a Yahoo search for "Old Chicago"+Park
As many others who posted memories of the place, I too have always missed it, and remember when it was being torn down, being sad to see the building go.

Old Chicago never kept up with newer attractions.Ever wonder why Walt Disney Company is still keeping up their parks? Disneyworld attendance was on the decline in the early to mid 80s So Roy Disney (Walts Son) took over the company and came up with ideas like Epcot,Disney MGM and Now Animal Kingdom.3 New Parks to keep vistors comming back.I predict Hershey park is going to become another disfunt park because they have no new ideas. So will Cedar Point in ohio soon will be gone in about 5 years. You need new attractions to keep people comming back.Old Chicago didnt keep up with newer rides. So I contacted Roy Disney and told him you need a Huge Dome with another park attraction something looks like the future.

You need go to Six Flags in LA area that where called Magic Mountain and climate is great with dry air, always open in almost rest of year but just sure to check if heat wave is occur or not.
