Cost of Bush Era: $11.5 Trillion

Let's do the math...

$11.5-trillion is $11,500,000,000,000.

Bush was president for 8 years.

There are 365 days in a year.

365 x 8 = 2,920

Leap year occurs once every 4 years.

2,920 + 1 (4th year) + 1 (8th year) = 2,922

There are 24 hours in a day.

2,922 x 24 = 70,128

There are 60 minutes in a hour.

70,128 x 60 = 4,207,680

There are 60 seconds in a minute.

4,207,680 x 60 = 252,460,800

Now, we do the math...

$11,500,000,000,000 / 252,460,800 = $45,551.62

So, during the time Bush was president... he spend $45,551.62 per second.

The amount of money he spent each second is equivalent to the amount of money an average person makes per year!

What about the fact that "Congress is in control of the money?" Presidents cannot spend the money unless congress approves it. Why not blame congress?

And... Bush can veto congress' decision. He's done it before.

The point is he is not only one to be blamed. The whole government in DC is to be blamed. I am sick of everybody blaming just Bush when it's everybody there!

I know that the government is to blame, but Bush can say no if he wants to.

If congress wants to spend money on a new tank and Bush thinks it's a waste of money... then he can simply say no. If they override his decision, then we can blame congress and not Bush. I don't remember anything like this happening where congress overrode Bush's decision over congress' bad decision.

He could have said no but the fact remains, Congress had to approve it first. It all starts with Congress approving to spend the money. Presidents cannot spend the money without Congress approval so blame Congress and Presidents. Instead of saying Bush spent the money, say that Congress and Bush spent the money.

Damn, Bush spends more than FDR does during the World War 2.

You know what this means though? Better start buying $$ stuff that you wanted before the prices hike back up. Economy is probably bound to get in better shape during the Obama admin.

exactly, vampy.

it all comes down to the power of veto and bush was in complete control of the money he spent. the blame doesn't fall on the shoulders of congress -- it belongs entirely to bush.

"if we estimate liberally"

it's not real report but a guess with crossing fingers.

Remember that inflation is different from 10 years ago to now....

Hmmm, something to think about. :hmm:
