I have been learning and communicating with American Sign Language for 3 years now. I have wanted to continue a career with ASL but have also wanted to be a cosemotologist. I know that one of the main issues is hearing, hard of hearing and Deaf comminuty conversations. So i wanted to pursue in cosmetology but get the word out that if you are Deaf i can help. Does anyone have certain ideas on how to do this? Ive been told to send out fliers to Deaf schools and such. Any advice would be great ❤

If you advance far enough to get terp certification, you can follow both careers. You can also tell your terp clients that you are also a beautician. They will spread the news.

What I would like is for beauticians to get some education on working with HOH clients. I cannot understand speech unaided unless she talks directly into my ear, or if she is in a position where I can lipread.
