I need to know why my computer keeps restarting while I'm talking or browsing..

Can anyone tell me why and what should I do?

possible spyware or a virus that overtake your computer and took control of the system and it will act like a nutcase, or maybe you accidently set up the auto-restart timing in the control panels...that's the best I can think of. :)

(i googled and copied and pasted this Q/A article.)

Many things can cause your computer to shut down or restart unexpectedly. Among these are hardware issues such as a faulty cpu, memory, or power supply. These problems can generally be diagnosed and repaired/replaced by a skilled technician.

Viruses and spyware can also cause your computer to unexpectedly shut down or restart. Examples of viruses that do this are Blaster, Nachi(Welchia), and Sasser. Often these will call a normal system shutdown procedure that will display a countdown on your screen.

If a virus is causing your system to initiate a shutdown, you can abort the shutdown manually by clicking "Start" then "Run" and typing "shutdown -a". If typed correctly, this will cause the system shutdown message to disappear and prevent the system from restarting, thus giving you time to clean tthe viruses from your system

update

you might also need to update your windows files or bios.

i know that windows xp used to have a glitch where an unexpected error would come up and it would restart your computer out of nowhere , could also be spyware or virus.

I would bet 95% that your right! Good chance is virus!

Some computers will shut down automatically if BIOs settings in motherboard sensed something's wrong with parts inside like overheat or overclock the cpu, RAM, or videocard or use wrong hardware drivers. It prevents them from damaging themselves.

Otherwise, it's virus or spyware. Use antispyware and anitvirus programs to clean problems up then your PC will be fine.

okay.. thanks to all who gave me advices. My computer restarted twice last night and hasn't happen again today.. I have antivirus and anti-spyware protection installed in my computer. But I'm still getting pop-ups even its "blocked". I'll keep an eye on this if it keeps restarting, I'll try to do the manual such as start-run and type in shutdown -a but i'm too skeered to do it.. i'm not going to do it right now.. but if it does keep on and on.. i'll try.. or I'll start pulling my hair out! :giggle:
