Hi

I am in the middle of an essay and hoping to cover a section on comparing the different between the American and British Views regarding Deaf issues.
I have seen only one blog (and lost it!) so I'm hoping some of you might be able to help, and I'd be very grateful :fingersx:

As I am :scatter: all over the place, and wish to start :type: that last bit on the comparisons!, its hard to find. Please help.

Things I'd like to know are;

For example,
the views/debates on CI different?

the views/debates on Deaf Rights?

the views/debates on who (academics) to listen for explain the problems and solutions facing deaf people, like what approaches ie' Deafhood vs Deaf as a Linguisitic Minority vs Deaf as Disabled vs Deaf as a changing cohort because of CI invasion? or while we eventually see a new 'race' of deaf people having a 'new' HOH culture ?

I'd be very interested to know see your responses and it would be great if any one could place some links to relevent blogs, forums, article to support your views.

Cheers

You could see if the RNID's website has anything to offer: RNID.org.uk

Aside from that I really have no idea (and i live here!!)

More links:

- Deaf culture: World cultures and Sign Languages of the world: World wide resources (lots of links)
- From Vocational Guidance Standard Model for Deaf People in Europe :)confused: No idea what that means): Deaf history (European deaf history with some about UK)
- From British Association for Teachers of the Deaf: Articles
- From Yahoo: DeafUK
- DeafOK
- DeafSign
- Hiype! (Hearing Impaired Young People - lots of links to blogs etc.)
- Royal Association for Deaf People
- UK Council on Deafness (interesting facts on UK deafness in press area link on top of page)

Sorry none are academic, but it is all I found. HTH. :)

I'm deafblind from England. I've never been to USA though so It would be very difficult for me to compaire Deaf views in the 2 countries. I find here in England that deaf people are not too interested in deafblind people. Sometimes they think the blind are getting better services which isn't true. This may be the case in USA to though. I don't know.
