Stem cells for those who already have a CI may see improvement in their auditory nerve. It's great if you can't hear 25db or better with CI. Those with CI may have to wait a very long time for stem cells to be able to grow hair cells. That's because CI usually erases your residual hearing and also makes other changes to your cochlea which places a large burden on stem cells. You may need to have the CI removed before getting stem cells. If I already had a CI, I would wait till the CI stopped working. CI would be obsolete and unavailable so I won't be reimplanted but just get stem cells and try to improve my hearing as much as possible. I won't have as good hearing as those who save their ears, which is why im saving my ears. I want the best possible results with stem cells and be able to get stem cells soon, not in 20 years if I got CI. Those with CI won't be candidates for stem cells for that long as todays stem cells won't do much if you already have CI. I am saving my ears for that reason.
