This man was a KGB Officer during the Cold War. He defected to the United States in 1992 and testified before Congress in 2000. He has also written a book which is here:

Through the eyes of the enemy: Russia's highest ranking military defector ... - Stanislav Lunev, Ira Winkler - Google Books

In this book, he claims that even though the United States has considered the Cold War to be over, that Russia has never stopped with their Cold War mentality, that they do have plans to invade the United States. He testified before Congress in 2000 that KGB officials have stored weapons caches all across the United States in preparation for an invasion. These weapons caches even have the so called "suitcase nukes".

here is the wikipedia article about him:

cool! i should read this book

i also have a book here, about a Russian doctor, defecting to the USA< and wrote of how barbaric it was in the Soviet' medical practice mainly- due to the harsh grueling and controlling clutches of the KGB, Secret service, secret police, and general indoctrination that occurred over there causing extreme lack of proper medical equipment and sanitation...quite raw (was in the 1960s) book is "Russian Doctor" by Vladimir Golyakhovsky

The Soviets also participated in gruesome medical experiments on captured American POW's during Vietnam and Korean conflict.

another archived interview:

CNN.com Chat Transcript - Former Russian spy Col. Stanislav Lunev’s reaction to FBI agent’s arrest for spying - February 20, 2001

Question from chat room: Does Russia still see the U.S. as an enemy?

Col. Stanislav Lunev: Unfortunately, the Russian government considers the United States as its main potential military adversary. The increase in Russian intelligence activity against America is directly connected to this point of view, and this view is much more popular than it was in the beginning of the '90s.

The Russian Government blames the US for "destroying" the USSR.

thought the Cold War was over? It never was for the Russian Government.

On the fence here...
My dad was freed by the Russians when he was a POW during WWII.
lol

lol

We had a common enemy then. We both emerged as world powers after WWII. The biggest bullies on the block that avoided a direct fight for over 60 years.

I dunno.

Sure ivan has plans to invade. But having plans is just having plans. I'm certain the states has battle plans drawn up for all kinds of invasions. Targeting friends and foes.
Shit
Canada and the brits had battle plans drawn up in the 20s and 30s to invade the states. The british royal navy had mutiple plans drawn up to if ordered anihilate majore anerican east coast cities if hostilities again broke out between the empire and insolent yanks. The idea then was if hostilities broke out between america and the brits or canada. That Most of canada was considered undefendible. And thus the canadians (no joke) rather then attempt to hold teritorial integrity would instead mass and launch a muti pronged and deep suicide run across upstate new york toward saracuse and nyc with intent to capture and destroy albany. The. State capital of course going all out for the govinor
while another prong headed straight down to dc. A city the brits once before burned to the ground. This mutipronged toque sporting canadian invasion knowing it would be distroyed would fight to the end focusing on distroying vital l Infrastructure . Bridges. Ect ect to buy time for the brit royal navy to uleash a massive onslaught along easteen american cities. Boston. Nyc ect.
These bombardment plans were drawn up by the brit fleet in the esrly 1900s as at that time the special friendshilp between the nations wasnt as it is now
Fascinating stuff and reading here
Keep in mind these plans were drawn up and studided at the hieght of british royal navy dominance of the seas and before current american military dominance.
If things went south again between the insolant yanks and brits the americans at that time would of been rather helpless against a fully mobalized and deployed british royal fleet.
That said the germans made both fast and dear friends
