What are the policies like at your local college? Do you feel they are good enough or should they be fixed to be better or worse?

Here at RIT, their policies suck big time! It's a dry campus so no alcohol of any kind is allowed on campus. Not even an empty can or bottle that's from an alcoholic beverage. There was one guy who was walking around collecting cans for recycling. He came across a crushed beer can that was laying outside in the middle of nowhere. As soon as he picked it up, a Campus Safety officer saw him and wrote him up. He then went through judicial for that. Jeez!

Oh okay..If you are speaking of RIT.. the list of policies that are unfair goes on and on, it's long..

We are not allowed to drink on campus at all but how stupid is this that there is a bar in the cafeteria area in the center of campus.

We are not allowed to display beer bottle caps, empty alcohol bottles in our rooms, nothing like that.

Any flyers posted on window glass can only be used with scotch tape, not masking tape or duct tape. Or else someone who did it will be fined.

We are not allowed to have loud music blaring near the window during the day time unless we get permission from Residence Life Center.

We are not permitted to play football, or just simply throw baseballs back and forth on pavement, only on the designated areas which are only a few for hundreds of students.

There are a lot more that we can not do on campus and I'm pretty sure that applies to other colleges - such policies that we must follow..

I guess there are some rebel in us after all *winks*

I find your comments very interesting.. I tell you mine.

I was aware that NTID/RIT is very dry due to no alcohol allowed policy. Even though I was a graduate student in 1999-2000 year, I already attended some parties at NTID YEARS AGO.

Anyway, I never forget that I smoked some weed with my buddy (he is DSP guy) in my dorm in Sol Heumann hall (one year before renovation time). I should have busted by my RA (a hearing black guy from Bronx--he was cool one), but I covered up by acting cool to him while he told me to fill out the survey ASAP. Whew!! I was saved by a flashing light. LOL

Second, I had a short fuse temper as I argued with someone online. I threw a SOBE glass bottle to the old wall across me and the bottle left imprint on the wall!! LOL I mean, I threw it really hard (not wussy throwing).

I decided to leave NTID for my personal reasons, RA inspected my room and slightly damaged walls due to white press on stickers and imprinted trademark (SOBE bottle). I knew that I might get fined for damages, but guess what? He said nah... I was like oh, ok. I never received a bill from NTID at all ever since. Strange. I believed that SOL, Tower A, and few halls were due to renovations anyway.:naughty:

DAMN - I wish my school was like that, we have alcohol/pub in the student union and tailgate parties. there is lots of complaints and trying to get rid of the alcohol especially around school events...I support that. I dont want drunk students....they can do it at home or elsewhere cuz while they are on campus or at campus events/rallies they are representing us.......

my college is mostly dry as well....it's stupid as I'm of age (I'm 23) and sometimes I'd just like to sit back and have a Mike's with my friends on campus, instead of going off campus. (my campus is in the middle of a residental section of a suburb and downtown is about two or three miles away)

i was at RIT during the time alcohol was allowed and PARTIEDDDDDDDDDDDDD -- my time at RIT was loads of fun! hehe

I broke a lot of those policies at RIT, no big deal, As I noticed that NTID's school policy are just like High School!

I never like SPTC Policy because it is tooooo much barrier for me. it is long story!!

You got lucky! I lived in Tower A for one quarter before moving to SOL due to renovations. My RA almost charged me for the damage that was left in the room and I was like, "WTF? They're going to destroy this room anyway!" My friend was charged for the broken furniture that was left in the room. He got pissed off and complained and RIT said, "Too bad!" A week later, he found all of his furnitures shattered to pieces in the dumpster cuz all old furnitures were tossed out due to renovation!
