Just wondering if any of the international members have the N6 yet. Not available yet in USA. Thanks to FDA and all the ****ed up Red Tape. Though I have been told its cleared for sale by a Cochlear employee that I know but no release date. I have also been told that its way better than the N5 and worth waiting for its anticipated release...

So as its available in the rest of the world already, just wondering if anyone has it and what their experiences have been so far. I finally have some hearing friends I want to be able to talk with so I'm getting impatient for its release,

According to my Audi surgeries after September 30th qualify for the N6... My surgery is the 20th. Red tape is right.

You mentioned that you have Esprit 3G accessories in other thread. So you MIGHT have Esprit 3G processor before which mean you have N22 or N24 implant. Unfortunately, you cannot get it. You have to wait one more year or two more years for N22 recipients. Sorry .

Can your insurance can pay just one coil?

FDA has already approved the N6, just a matter of waiting on Cochlear Americas to actively start sending them out to the CI clinics or however that works. Been reading that Sept. 30 is when the N6 will be formally announced for use in the USA or something like that.

As for those who are newly/recently implanted with the N5 or will be implanted before Sept. 30, they should still be able to trade in the N5 for the N6 and/or have gotten vouchers.

People here in the Czech Republic (central Europe) are already receiving N6, since last week or so.

I've had an email into my Audi for a week..... she's checking with her rep. crossing my fingers - it would be so much more convenient not to have wires everywhere!

hope you can get the N6. I know of someone in Colorado who got his CI last month, and he'll be getting the N6 when it's readily available (currently using the N5 in the meantime).

Do you know of a trade up program he found or something I might pass along to my audi if she doesn't find the loophole herself? REALLY trying to push for the N6... any ideas are appreciated!

I spoke to one of the Research Audiologists I know at Cochlear America. She did not have a release date at the time. However she did say it was worth waiting for the N6. and My processors are out of warranty so I would have to pay for the new coil... Its a waste for just a couple months wait and I have N24 in both ears so I'm good to go there

Like I said, you cannot get N6 this year. You HAVE to wait for N6 to be backward compatible with your N24 implant. It will be available to N24 recipients next year

They say the N6 may not be made compatible for N24 implants until after 2014. It isn't guaranteed that it will be available in 2014. :)

I will follow up on this with the peoples I know at Cochlear Americas and get back to you all.

Ok I did follow up and it looks like the estimated release date for the backwards compatible N6 is estimated to be early 2015 Ugh....
