Hello! Does anyone know how to access other cochlear implant forums out on the web? If you have to do this privately please pm me with information on how to sign up to them please. I can't get enough information on more specific things regarding cochlear implants here. Thanks!!

What kind of specifics are you looking for about cochlear implants?

There is a couple groups over at Yahoo..

CI-Clarion-2 : CI-Clarion-2
CIHear : Miracles Happen - Hearing Is Restored

CI hear is the most popular and is not brand specific. However, I like AD because we are mostly young, prelingual or long term deaf and so on.

Cochlear has their own brand specific forum if you are interested: Nucleus Forum

Try cochlear.com as I believe they have a list of links to various forums and websites.

Thanks. I was looking for one in general. Doesn't matter all implants are talked about in it. I have Platinum BTE and HiFocus cochlear implant. I need a forum where I can ask specific question. Such as, about CI defects like my BTE cracks every couple of months, and if it happens to others. So and so on. They are coming up with new BTE, but it's not ready yet. I have older implant, so it's hard to talk about these things here as people seem to have newer implants.. Here is more general discussions but not the more technical part. I need an active forum, of course. It's a waste of my time to subscribe to non-active forums.

Sounds like you might have more luck on the AB forums that Contradica mentioned.

Have you approached AB directly about the cracking BTEs? I wonder if they can let you have one at a low cost to tide you over until they bring out the new BTE.

Oh, I have warranty coverage for the cracked BTE, but it seems to happen every couple of months. I just want to vent and find out what's on other people's mind when it comes to such problems.

With my hearing aids, I didn't have problems with hearing aids being down or broken so easily, so it's something I gotta deal with until they come out with a better one. It's been a long time.

I wonder if someone is in the same spot as I am. : D

With hearing aids I still have problems every couple months with them. However, you would have better luck on CI-Clarion-2 Yahoo Group
You could have just posted about that problem and seen who else that would have popped up with the same problem.

I agree, that is not very good, is it? How old are your BTEs? Have you had the cracking problem since you got them or more recently? Do you use the dry and store machine on a regular basis - I don't know if that would help.

I bet you can't wait for your upgrade. Are you the same poster who also doesn't have a very good battery life as well or am I confusing you with someone else?

Try the ci circle and also the Hearing Exchange has links to other forums.

Whatever you do, don't go to cochlearwars.com. lol

AMEN!

But seriously, if you are looking for information about your BTE and I do not recall what brand you have then try some of the cochlear implant only forums as they usually are limited to discussions regarding cis.
