Hello,

I am a cochlear implant audiologist in Fairfax, VA. I always enjoy reading the cochlear implant threads on alldeaf.com since it gives me insight to living with a cochlear implant. I especially find discussions about the durability and functionality of equipment helpful, as some of those thoughts are not always conveyed by my patients during appointments. So, thank you!

I wanted let you all know about a consumer event that is taking place on Sept. 27th in Fairfax, VA. It is a general information session about cochlear implants. While it is sponsored by Med-EL, our clinic does offer all three cochlear implant companies: Advanced Bionics, Cochlear Americas and Med-EL.

So, if you or someone you know is interested in learning about cochlear implants in a relaxed, no-commitments necessary environment, please feel free to share! Also - I hope this does not come across as "sales-pitchy." I really just want people that are interested in learning more about cochlear implants to have access to this information!

Thank you and have a great day!

Thank you for the information - I have an uncle that has bilateral CI and my father just had surgery 2 days ago at Emory in Atlanta, GA for his CI. He will be activated on October 16th.

Unfortunately, we cannot attend this seminar in Fairfax, but it does sound like you are attempting to be informative and helpful. I wish we could go.

Is there a way you could do a podcast using closed captions and/or sign?

P.S. My wife was the first child in Atlanta to get a CI, but she refuses to wear hers for personal reasons.
