Hello. I'm finally accepting my hearing loss being bad enough that I have to face it and the continued decline. My official diagnosis was a few years ago, but my work didn't really required a lot of interaction outside of email. Now that I'm more senior and have more responsibilities, it's gotten a little more difficult. When coworkers complain that they hear my phone conversations better than me, and ask if you're going to answer the phone that wasn't ringing, you just can't hide from it anymore. I'm learning ASL, but mostly one on one due to work and distance to support centers. So I'm hoping to meet more people like me, outside of the audiologists office and counselors. Also get some advice and support. I don't really know where I fit in, feel like an outsider to deaf culture and an outcast from how I grew up.
