I'm curious, those of you with CI's (regardless of model), can you describe all 3 programs (typical number that are mapped, may be less/more) that are programmed into your processor? I'm still trying out several variations, perhaps someone has one that can help another? My current setup:
1) 50/50 processor mic/aux mic
2) 50/50 processor mic/aux mic (decreased sensitivity)
3) 0/100 aux mic (t-coil only)

Currently my maps are:

1) Adro
2) Autosensitivity
3) Beam
4) Raw input with no tweaks (I use this for music)

I'm glad you posted this going back next month for a new map. Still very new at this (just over a month so can't provide much input)

model AB

1) t-mic no mix
2) t-mic (background noise reduction- decreased senseitity?)
3) process. mic only (a back up for t-mic failure)

Haven't tried t-coil yet any good words for that, and is the processor, aux mic mix working well for you, would be interest to hear as these are some of the thing I will likely ask for in a couple of weeks.

Sounds like you are doing very well and I thank you and value your post.

The partial mix ratio for using both processor mic and aux(t-mic) mic simultaneously enabled me to hear more realistically. Try the map setup I have, it definitely sounds better than using either mic alone.

Will bring that up with the audi, hearing more realistically is something I surely need. Any other words of wisdom except " it will get better with time" have heard that over and over, but it is great that I can now hear that.

Is the t-coil doing any better than the t-mic for phone might ask to have that added also for a try?

Sorry for all the questions but it sounds like you have been down this road and would be great to learn from your experiences.

This is from Cochlear's website about the freedom and the programs available"

SmartSound ADRO® for music and dynamic environments

Many listening situations, such as shopping malls and concerts present a constantly changing combination of loud and soft sounds. ADRO automatically adjusts sound levels to deliver an ideal balance of clarity and comfort.

Basically it takes soft sounds and bumps them up, and loud sounds and lowers them so that there's a consistent comfort level.

SmartSound Beam™ for focused listening in crowds

Having a conversation in a crowd can be difficult, because the surrounding noise can be distracting. Beam is designed to soften the distracting sounds, making it easier to focus on the conversation.

I use this setting quite often, especially when talking with a group of people, and occasionally in a classroom setting

Right now, I have Adro with telecoil, Adro with telecoil mix and autosensitivity with telecoil mix 50:50.

I use Adro 90% of the time in regular hearing situations. Autosensitivity is used in noisy environments or when I want to cut out a continuous noise in the background such as the sound of a car or vacuum cleaner.

I think I will try Beam again next time. Last time I tried it I found that it overcompressed sounds a bit but now that my maps are more advanced, then perhaps it might work better. My audie might also know how to customize it to reduce the compression.

My friend is in a trial right now with some new programs. She really loves one of them in particular. She couldn't disclose too much to me about it though!

R2 did you try Whisper? I found that I got better clarity from Adro than Whisper.

Yes me too. I tried Whisper only once - I think its supposed to be for listening in a quiet environment and for listening to someone speaking at a distance but never really saw the need for it so I took it off at the next mapping.

Me, I'm happy with Adro and autosensitivity. Next mapping I will ask for:

1. Adro + telecoil
2. Adro + telecoil mix
3. Autosensitivity + telecoil
4. Beam + telecoil

I was activated just over two weeks ago and I have the following programs for my Nucleus Freedom:

1. Basic
2. Adro
3. Autosensitivity
4 Louder Program

I go back in less than two weeks and I really want to try the t-coil. I would like to try the t- coil with ADRO. I am also going to keep one of the programs autosensitivity.

No problem...ask away. In my experience, I find the t-mic (auxiliary only program) better as it closely resembles the way I remember hearing a phone when I had the ability to hear. The t-coil sound more like a mono sound to me, but I haven't entirely dismissed it, it comes in handy in noisy places. Also, try mixing ratios for your individual programs, 2 active mics may benefit you better than one.

I have the Freedom.

1) Adro - By far my favorite - I almost never use anything else.
2) Raw (Unfiltered)
3) Whisper - Might use this one in a blue moon.
4) Autosensitivity

As far as using T-Coil, I never have used it yet and probably never will. Heck, I don't even know how to use it without resorting to the manual. To explain this state of affairs, I hear rather well with noise in the background and thus not really needing it for that. I have used my cell phone while the windows are down and driving on the highway. Not easy but I can do it.

Jesus, I have to have it arrangeed to shut off the mics to use t-coil, but I rarely use it anyway. I tried using it in noisy settings and I embarass myself holding the cell in front of me as if I were abusing it. T-coil works automatically, a T3 or T4 (best) cell phone will catch the phone's magnetic field around the hearing piece.

Activated two weeks ago, I remember that like it was yesterday, really it was last month. So at two weeks plus how do things sound for you?

For all you Freedom users, sounds like the Freedom has some really nice programs, I'm starting to get Freedom envy.
