That actually sounds more reasonable than suggesting child abuse by the father.  So "percieved child abuse" is most likely what is happening here.  The point I would make to others is to not pass judjement on someone when you don't know all of the details.  It's unfair and may cause people to make bad decisions as a result.  Don't say it's child abuse when it's not.
