Went to the holistic vet who does chiropractic for pets also, and had first post-surgical adjustment. the vet was very pleased with how my girl is doing and the degree of musculature she has retained, though she does have loss of muscle and her sides are of course uneven - but vet thought she looked fantastic. She said the incision looks very clean and healed nicely and she can go do water therapy tomorrow.
I'm very happy:)

Good news!...my Pomeranian is overweight at 12 lbs. And at age 7, I do worry about it....She's still able to jump onto the sofa or the ottoman....every night and AM upon awakening, I do give her back lots of kneading and massaging....she loves it and actually demands it before getting out of bed :giggle:...I massage her neck also, behind her ears, etc., as doggies are always having to lift their heads up to see you....feel it's good for them...what do you think?

Oh yes ! Doggies love getting massages ! I knew a woman that rescue a dog that was very badly abused , you couldn't get near him . I went to pet him and I couldn't hear him growling at me my sister and friend had to pull me . The next time I saw the dog I was able to pet him all over and if I stopped he push my hand with his nose and say you're not done petting me. I guess the poor dog was making up for all petting he didn't get.

:wave:RR and WDYS!

YES - WDYS! is right - most of the time dogs do like or even love massage.
There is also a certain special type of touch that goes beyond massage called -T-Touch started by someone involved in horses and she also eventually developed it into other smaller animals too. http://www.ttouch.com/
It's a kind of bodywork healing modality like chiropractic and one can actually get certified in it, though if doing it on your own animal, you don't have to.

The founder and previous manager of the humane society behavior department where I volunteer is certified in T-Touch and gives seminars on it; we use it extensively in the specific behavior modificaton program I'm involved in there.

Slow, gentle touching and ear rubs for many dogs and cats is very rewarding.
