They don't say that they believe the children's lives are "lower quality" than hearing people, the kids do! How do you blame the people who did the study?? They simply send out questionaires about how they feel they fit in, how stressfull they find school, if they have trouble communication with their friends, etc. It isn't a judgement. The deaf kids (until now) have been rating *themselves* lower in happiness than hearing kids do.
