Certified ASL Interpreters in Georgia

I just found out through the grapevine that the Georgia State Legislation is cutting funding for certified ASL interpreters. I do not know all of the details, but was hoping someone "in the know" may be able to share exactly what this is all about.

All I know is from what I have heard and that there are a number of terps who are claiming that the State of Georgia no longer views ASL interpreters as professionals.

I would like to know who proposed the cut, and who voted for the cut.

Here in SF have lot of deafies taking cdi classes to become deaf interpreters, but too many deaf interpreters are not necessary. IMO
 
I have thought about being an interpreter, as I plan making ASL my 2nd language. I want a career in something I can benefit from. Seems like the hearing world is getting too intimidating for me.

But yea I'm in Cali so I wouldn't know why their doing that.
