Certificated deaf interps?

I am profoundly deaf and I am fluent in ASL, but I do not speak well. Maybe this subject has been discussed before, but I am new and I might have missed it.

Is it easy to become a certificated deaf interp? Is there a plenty of freelance work? Especially in Southern California?

I knew of a couple of CDIs in the Southern California area, but neither of them did it as their full-time jobs. Here's some info from RID about it:
