I i have never seen any cat swim. Cats usualy hate the water but if cats love fish thwy would simply wait till the fish swims up to the bank. Now fish are not that damn dumb or are they?

That's true the cats don't like water. But if they had to, they will swim...but not happily.

True...cats are known not to be thrilled to be in the water although in some rare cases, there are a few cats (some I've experienced with) that do not mind the water at all...as for fishes...nah, they aren't as dumb as they seem to appear to be...except when being lured to the bait that was tossed out by a fisherman! ;)

It's true -- cats can swim, but they hate water though. The only cat I am aware of that LOVES water -- it's the Van Turkish breed. :D

Cats sure can swim. When Dusty our cat was thrown in the pool (we had to so she wouldn't lick the stuff we put on her to help her fur - she;s going bald), she swam all the way to the surface. Smart cat.

Actually, many cats enjoy water and at least one breed is known to enjoy fishing and swimming. But, it has to be on their own terms being picked up by two human hands and dunked in a sink full of water is not on the cat's "own terms." ha!

I don't remember where I get the information from... but it states that cats are better swimmers than dogs.

True, cats sure can swim alot better than dogs as what I heard too, but cats don't like water that's for sure....

Even hate taking a bath LOL

In one summer, I was sleeping. My sister got up and opened the window. We were stuck inside. Our home was flooded. My sister yelled and woke me up. She said "Laura Laura... look!" I got up and looked out the window. I saw our kitty swimming in the water (flooded). Then she got up on our patio table. I was amazed that she can swim.

its a rare thought that people think cats can swim.. in fact they do swim.. and also in fact that almost all animals do swim ;) or does all animals swim :ugh:

Ducks and gesse do not count as birds. I dont even count chickens as birds too. Im taking about eagles,Ravens,Robins,Blue Jays,Cardinals,Black birds they dont swim.

Ducks, geeses, chickens and common birds are part of fowl group.

About eagles, ravens, robins, etc.. they don't need to swim in the water when they can fly. Anyway robins and other birds literally do swim in the water, a basin that filled up with water, it called 'birdbath'.

awww! cute tigers swimming! I bet they felt cooler if the weather was hot! I tried putting my cat (when I was a teenager) in swimming pool to see if she can swim...she could swim, but was not very happy about it. So I never put cat in the pool since.

HOW TO BATHE A CAT

1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.

2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water and have both lids up.

3. Find the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. (You may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape.) The cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from your toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.
CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for anything they can find.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "Power Wash"and "Rinse", which I have found to be quite effective.

6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.

8. The now clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.

Sincerely,
The Dog

Yeah, I know some cats love water, but not too much! My family's cat would always sleep in the sink with a leaky faucet during the hot summer. On one side would be so wet from the leaky faucet, but the cat didn't care as long as it stays !!
