It depends on what you are shooting for. Think about all different occupations where people skills are required such as receptionists, service writers, foremen/women, ASL interpreters, etc.

If hiring, I imagine that part of hiring process would be to assess your social skills. Would people think that you're lagging behind other applicants if you took online courses while they took classes in person? Do you have to deal with that issue when looking for a job or 2?

Depending on what career you going for, the ability to get the class online or not, and how well you do on them is important. Like in my university it is rare to have an online classes available. So if you get it and pass it looks pretty nice.

I don't see what a difference it would make in most cases. Most prospective employers just want to know if you have the degree. They don't usually quiz you about each course.

I have traditional degrees (which include some CLEP credits), a distance learning degree, and am currently working on an on-line major. No employer has ever asked me about individual courses. I've never even had them ask for my GPA.

Please clarify. When you transfer schools, you will invariably lose some credits. Online courses ... I know what they are but what's the question - affect what credits?

The other folks appear to understand. I don't. Sorry.

I don't think taking a course online would affect its transferability because there's nothing on a transcript that indicates how the course was taken. That is, the transcript doesn't say "English 101 online" vice "English 101 traditional."

Agreed (100%), Reba. You may very well lose credits simply transferring from one college/university to another. Each school has its own # of credits one must take there rules online and not.
