California Couple Threatened With Fine For Brown Lawn Even As State Gripped In Drough

Yeah, I read it somewhere else and the couple got a good point that if we use too much water, we still get fined. So the state says "save water" while a city says "waste water". WTF?
My front yard and backyard are watered 15 minutes each zone (total of 4 zones) to keep the grass green especially during summer time (total of one hour automatic watering).

What you are dealing with here is LA county, they are great at using water we don't have. The article stated that the state used 1% more water than last year, but they failed to say that Northern California used less water than last year and Southern California used 10% more than last year and it averaged out to 1 % more statewide, so our beloved idiots in Sacramento are going to punish everyone because So Cal can't seem to curb their water wasting ways.
The couple in question did the best thing they could do and that is go to the news media. Many cities in California won't let you put artificial grass in your front yard, but you can do so in your backyard. They passed these codes back when artificial grass looked fake, today it looks like real grass. So even if this couple put in fake grass they probably would be fined or required to pull out the fake grass and replant real grass. We have a perfect example here of the politicians not being able to see the forest through the trees.
You have to love a state that keeps re electing wackaloons like this into office time and again.

I'm lucky to live somewhere that no one waters their lawns and they stay green. We can also go 3-4 weeks between mowing, to boot. Best of all worlds.
Some parts of SoCal won't let you do desert landscaping, they just want to waste the water they don't have.
