Buyrates PPV between WWE and UFC

Right on, UFC almost went out of business and glad they found a way to get back on business with SpikeTV.

Yeah, WWE are best as near 40 business years....they were becoming biggest when WCW and ECW gone out fo business (WWE still own ECW today as their mainstream).

UFC are 16 business years....they got another two series of The Ultimate Fighters ahead and discuss to get deal with HBO at the present. And now UFC and PrideFC (Japan's elite MMA) are working together to bring more business mainstream together. Then UFC would still running in business for more decade years. This time, UFC's business are beginning with gowing fans.

I knew UFC will going be bigger show when I saw UFC 3 on PPV somedays...at same time, awared that they will going many roadblocks down the path. But I didn't expect like SpikeTV, working with HBO and PrideFC.
Plus more MMA events like KOFC, TKO, IFL, WFA and hundred MMA around the world. I thought I am in the heaven now! Of course, I still peeking on WWE for awhile.....ah. still kiss Vince's butt! Haha.

For now, you can said WWE is best...and wait for 2030 to see which is best one when UFC hit 40 years and whoever take Vince's business (or he still alive?! haha). Yes, I would like to see UFC and WWE there....and I will saying that UFC, WWE, and Boxing will be top three PPV event rates.

Take a read abt buyrates PPV between WWE and UFC...

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/news/story?id=2516201

I wasnt realize UFC almost bankrucptry in 2001 and almost folded in 2003... Therefore WWE is still best!

A better and more accurate comparision is to look at GROWTH rate.

WWE, I doubt has been growing much in the last few years.. the era of Steve Austin vs Vince McMahon feud was probably the height of WWE in popularity and level of interest..

While UFC, on the other hand, has been growing at an insane rate for the last few years..

UFC and HBO deal is in negotiations stage. WFA (another MMA organization) has already signed up with Showtime, so HBO would be stupid not to sign up with UFC (to compete with Showtime).

MMA is primed to take off - I can see MMA becoming as big as boxing someday in the future as more athletic commissions is accepting MMA as a legitimate sports.

Dana White was wise to bill UFC as a "MMA-sports" organization, rather than using "No-Holds-Barred" label that early UFC was carrying. And he is also wise to accept/adopt a number of rule changes to make athletic commissions happy - for the safety of fighters also.

Not only that, PRIDE is also coming to the US. PRIDE is a huge and successful MMA organization and I'm looking forward to seeing PRIDE events in USA.. based on PRIDE matches I've seen on the FSN channel.

Sure, WWE might still be bigger than UFC now, but UFC is growing at much faster rate than WWE is now. In fact I think WWE might be shrinking a bit.

And lastly, and most importantly, just because WWE is bigger does not mean it is better. It's all about people's preferences. Coke is bigger than Pepsi, but I like Pepsi better.

I've preferred UFC to WWE since I became interested in the Tito-Shamrock rivalry and since WWE began recycling same old stupid storylines.

Also, from the same article you linked to..

WWE has been averaging 482,000 PPV buy rate.

While the most recent PPV, UFC 61 (featuring Tito vs Shamrock), is already over 482,000 PPV buyrate.

WWE needs to start worrying about UFC taking away its viewers, because UFC is no longer small.. it's taking off very fast.

I believe WWE will stay good for longest time. But for UFC I am not sure because there's always a law putting the bad influences down due to their real fightings. WWE is like a movie (yeah they are fake) so they will stay on being the top for sure.

Yeah, WWE will staying for long time as I wants to see them there by I am 80 years old to watch Hulk Hogan's grandson Hulk Hogan III and HHH II are wrestling each other on WrestleMania 100.

UFC has been awaring of the inffuences by the laws as most came from "never seen evertyhing inside of MMA" people. These people supports the boxing where many dead boxers there.

Is right dead boxer three month ago? And more than 200 dead boxers from first day of boxing = a dead boxer every year as compare to UFC - zero in last 480+ matches of 16 years. There got only MMA one dead fighter who irgoned his doctor's order before went to have a MMA match in Russia (figher's wife lost lawsuits against doctor and Rissa's MMA)....UFC won't allow that kind and fellow doctor's order...like Matt Hamill can't get into fight under the doctor's order few weeks ago on SpikeTV. That what law people don't want to debate about boxing...just attacking on MMA alone. maybe they are afraid to see boxing gone for good...sadistic. I don't think boxing will go away cuz it is about different sport what the people wants to watch.

UFC got Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and California (even Arnold Schawagger supports MMA) to back up for them. Guess what Boxing promoter Bob Arum has been thinking about join MMA event....Don King had been thinking few years ago to get his own MMA fighters.

UFC and Boxing will be good equal in the future....even could be boxer vs MMA fighter.....PrideFC did taking MMA fighters vs Kickboxers of K-1 ( www.so-net.ne.jp/feg/k-1gp/ ) under agree the rules

WWE will be there for long time....could be TNA vs WWE vs ECW triple threat?!

Wow. Ortiz and Shamrock 2 sold to the people! Hope there won't be Ortiz-Shamrock 3 cuz Ortiz wasted him twice. Let Ken be retirement to save his face and go his business with his Lion's Den school to get best fighter to face Ortiz. Ortiz whipped Lion's Den best fighters Mezger, Bohlander and Shamrock twice after first loss to Den's Mezger at Ortiz's first UFC match.

WWE might not worry cuz they got hundred million dollars that can buy everything to keep the flag fly in Stamford, CT.

WrestleMania 100? It would be in 2084, haha! I dont wanna see Triple Threat between WWE, ECW, and TNA... All I wanna see WWE together with ECW take against on TNA!

In fact, WWE got hundred billion, not million since they are selling some merchandise, DVDs, PPV, attending events, Internation tours, and more...

Its true cuz my roommate read some newspaper during his break time at lunch and newspaper talks abt most viewers from between 18 to 49 top 10 is... 1. WWE RAW (USA Network), 3. ECW (Sci-FI Network), and (I think) #9 WWE SmackDown! (UPN, soon to be My Network)

Its true cuz UFC PPV might takes once in a 2 months or depend on schedule for all fighters while WWE sometimes take 2 PPV events in a month, so WWE earns better buyrates from PPV if big event PPV such as SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and WrestleMania...

As speaking for ECW, it will be only Summer series and it will not continue into Fall series unless ratings and people attending are great, then ECW may continues in Fall series and move to USA Network if its available on their schedule... I am sure ECW may continue into Fall series, even Winter since I found some info internet that ECW will working on thier own PPV on December 3, 2006... Lets see if ECW can survive continue into Fall series or not... I am sure if Vince McMahon becomes healthy problem then he will let his son, Shane McMahon contines work as WWE owner and chairman...

Not only did the fighter not get doctor's OK, the fight was also unsanctioned (not given permission to have fights by government or governing body like NSAC for UFC).

So it's a recipe for disaster.

Yea I watched WWE presents WrestleMania Anthology DVD (21 discs set) and they showed WM I started 1984 at MSG... So, I figured, it would be 2084 for WM 100 if WWE can continues, ha...

I recently read WX abt ECW's running, they said ECW may continues into early 2007 if its successful from now on... But I doubt it since McMahon is taking over ECW and mostly of all matches are discontinue plus EC F'N W shirt is also disconting by McMahon... Oh well...
