When you go to the store, how do you shop?

I'm referring to the majority of the items you buy.

Do you buy it because it's what you always buy?

Ex: I always buy Kraft Mac-&-Cheese because it's my favorite kind of Mac-&-Cheese.

Do you buy it because it's under the same company?

Ex: I always buy Kraft Mac-&-Cheese because it's made by Kraft.

Do you buy it because it's cheap or on sale?

Ex: I always buy it because it's 50 cents to 60 cents per box.

Just wondering how you shop.

Depend on budget in my hand.

If I have 50 dollars for this week meal. I would have to stretch it.

Most of the time I have an extra in my cupboard but now it is empty. Oh well!

Mostly yes name brand.

For mac and cheese, Kraft or Wegmans. I like Wegmans since it taste really good! Kraft I can't stand it anymore. :( My son would eat them anyway! LOL!

Veggies-mostly Del Mote or giant green or wegmans frozen veggies

Fruit-fresh and that would be really depend on what kind of fruits.

85% of products would be under name brand and rest of % store brand.

For diapers...must be either Pampers or Huggies (Pampers work on my son but not Huggies. So I have to wait for my little one born, and test on both diapers, which one that work better. I noticed Pampers works better on boys and Huggies work better on girls. That's my opinion. ) if store brand, forget it..it leak bad!

I usually go through the ads and find the best buy for my money. I try to get name brands on sale.

And then I go to Sam's and buy big quantities at big savings. I buy both the Sam's brands and national brands.

If the quality is as good store brands can save a lot of money.

With 3 teenagers, I usually shop for store brands and "on sale". We do like Kraft Mac & Cheese, the other brands are yukky!...Walmart pizzas are pretty good we think. So is their Lasagna with 3 cheeses (frozen). I also shop for "buy 1/get 1", do my shopping at W/D, Walmart and Food Lion. Watch their sale papers also.

We very seldom eat sweets. Making a cake is very rare...I do make banana pudding 2-3 times a month. We eat jello a lot also, or yogurt.

I use manufacturer coupons, e-coupons, Target coupons, grocery coupons, drugstore coupons and internet printable coupons all the time. I usually buy double newspapers on Sundays. If the coupons are good, I would buy another newspaper. For instance, I can combine manufacturer coupon and Target coupon together in order to get a good deal or free.

I often buy produces at grocery/market stores than national chain stores. I like grocery stores for various reasons such as double/triple coupons and catalinas. I have a policy: I buy any toothpaste/toothbrush if they're at least 25 cent or free. One time, I was at Super Walmart, and bought $12 worth of stuff like Green Giant Steamers Veggies, band-aids, and cans of tomatoes for just 7 cent. Thanks to coupons.

I don't eat Kraft Mac & Cheese anymore. I don't recall the last time I had a mac & cheese meal. I really don't care about any brand that I want for myself. I'm a cultured person, and like to try every brand for the heck of it. I avoid high sodium and processed foods. I bake two loaves of bread every two week. I love the aroma of baking bread. hmm!

I like to buy what is on sale, but most times I will buy GV and Krogers brands to save money and its just as good as the name brands.

Those Great Value brands are quite good. I always get the GV water. :)

Same here....we buy case of 20 oz bottled water often. :) Cheaper toot han in any more...most 16.5 I think but WM only have 20 oz...weird...but at least more water to drink. :)

I wanted to post again on this thread last week and forgot. Well, I got Krogers trash bags a couple of weeks ago $1.99 they have to be the worst bags on the planet they are so damn thin I will never buy them again :pissed:

As a guy, I'm a label reader. I avoid products that are made by companies that test on animals (Proctor & Gamble, Colgate, Dial, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, etc.), including dog foods that are made by companies that aren't nice to animals (Iams). I also buy healthy and organic when I can and it's available. I prefer to be vegan, but it's a slow process for me.

For specific foods, such as butter, if it's not Land O' Lakes butter, I don't buy it. Cheese must say "Processed American Cheese." If it says, "Cheese Product," it's NOT cheese. In actuality, what you're getting is wax, not cheese. Nummy, huh? :barf:

I prefer national brand over store brand because I had been worst experience with some of store brands in past.

Beverages? Name brands
Food? Whatever on special. I buy the raw ingredients, not processed food. So no pasta for me.
Cleaning supplies? Whatever is on special.

Same here.

I do buy some store brand, but only by recommendation or I hear good reviews about them. :)

I have a liking for specific brand for certain food. for ie - I prefer Poland Spring water, Tropica orange juice, and Cheerios. As for any other food like steak, pasta, vegetable, etc. - I don't really care. If it tastes good, then I will continue buying it from same place until there's tastier one.

The amount of food we buy depends on coupons/cost. If there's a sweet deal going on, then we will buy a large bulk of it. If not - then we'll just wait for next sweet deal or buy it at another store that sells it cheaper.

Organic food is costly so I only spend extra just for milk and egg. I don't really care about organic anything... I think it's frivolous to spend that much on organic anything.

We have HEB groceries here. Their store brand is very good on most items. Some things I prefer over national brands. Others - yuck! We get seasonal produce at the local farmer's market. I use mostly vinegar or soda to clean with but like some of the new biodegradeable cleaners.
So, mostly store brands exept for yucky things. Good thing - HEB will refund your money if you dont like it.

I buy whatever is the cheapest or on sale...got 4 mouths to feed now. My favorite spicy salsa is always the same regardless of how much it costs.

I just buy whatever's on sale...don't really care much on the brands. You can buy 3-4 boxes of Mac and cheese for a dollar with a brand that you never heard of before. Some cereals that look like cheerios are lot cheaper and they taste the same, no difference.

I'll try any product once in comparison to its 'name' brand.

Right now I'm at 50/50, you cant get cheep Toilet paper!

I'm like that too.

I never really buy organic food, but if there's something that's highly recommended or something that I'm curious about... then I might get it once. For instance, I got a quart of goat's milk because I was curious how it tasted compared to cow's milk. The only place I could find it was at an organic food store.
