At work today, a woman customer came to my line with an item that had no price on it. I work at a store where customers are just crazy and try to get used things cheaper by removing prices. Well, I gave her a price for it, which was 2 dollars. Then she asked why it said $1.97 on the item (old sticker from store). I said that it isn't our price. We price things our own way for charity purposes. Anyway, well, I asked her if she wanted me to ask someone else for a price. So I did. Still 2 dollars. Then, the lady saw the marked price and said that she saw me remove a .50 cents sticker off. Then, I went with a shocked face that I did not. I said there's a camera, then she went on saying that I took off the sticker and told me that she can tell that I am lying by looking at my eyes. Don't ya wanna laught at this one? I left, and I found the supervisor. The lady of course said I lied, and I asked her, "why would I do that?" She said, "I don't know! Why did you?!! like really stern and louder tone. You could tell she was a b*#^! and a bully since probably childhood. She then said that she didn't need it. Well, we took it off her, and she asked for both of our names.

I have never had that happen to me. I am sick of customers. This store's just bad, and I am really looking for a new job to get out!

retail work is a nightmare - someone constantly trying to rip you off. I hope you can find a better job soon, but hang in there until you do, it'll get better!

Thank you so much for your words. I really found out working here that I really hate retail!! I don't want to go near one anymore. My manager asked me why I seemed unhappy. I said that I just don't like the same thing over and over. She's gonna try to mix up work between the others. I really can't complain and say that "because customers are crappy!!" They have made up new rules, but they don't enforce them--so it's crappy because the customers know they can still get away with whatever they wanna do. So they don't stop pestering when you tell them it's the rule. Plus stealing clothes and items in dressing rooms is just horrible!

I'm very sorry that you had such an awful experience.

mostly people have problems with bully! that none of your busniess like examples money, drugs, and lots of mores but you cant include this ONE!

i know that hard answer this question but i never include with bully people but i would stay away from bully people and getting hurt at me! im warns you but my uncle is police officer for prison.

I'm with you on that- Difficult customers are such a pain in the ass. They either do it on purpose to be ass or get thing for free, and those who just have that personality and complain about anything.

You aren't alone, it does happen to me when I work at wal-fart, some consumers are just asshole.

Sometime, it's so... :eek3:

I was one of them. I was biting the worker (teenanger girl) head off for no reason. She was telling me that my credit card was denied. I said I have the money in there and was mumbling. I gave her another CC and it went thru. When I walked out of the store. I felt so bad and wanted walk back in and apologize to her. I couldnt face it. So I went home and was thinking of this worker and my stupid attitude.

Two days later, I went out dinner with my two friends. Lisa was telling me that her daughter is working at the craft store. I said "oh my goodness. not her" Lisa said "what?" I said "I bit her head off and gave her an attitude." Lisa said "OH THAT WAS YOU!!" She was gasped. I told her Please tell your daughter that "I am soooo apologize abt it. I took care of my CC with the company and it wasnt her fault." Lisa said "I will tell her." Later that night, she told her daughter. Her daughter said "Thats her?" her jaw was drop to the ground and accepted my apologize.

I felt so bad what I had done.

I went thru the same plm with ppl who gave me an attitude when I was at work. I know the feeling. If I had a plm. I said hold on let me get the manager. So the manager deal with this plm.

Aww.. Jeez so Its must be your bad day!! But am sure that next day will be good day so Just ignore her! ;):):):)

OMG! You should be like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld and say, "No clothes for you! Come back in one year. NEXT!"

Thank you all. I am trying to search for a job. I got a call at a bookstore, but it involved register which I don't want to do for awhile. I want a different position, but a lot of jobs where I live is fast foods, food services, and retail. Barnes and Noble (other store-not the one that called me) is not hiring until December. I don't want to wait 5 months. Another crafts store have applications with booth saying they are hiring, but when I called they said they are not hiring. It's still there--the booth. I don't get it. I plan to go in person, but they are not easy to get ahold of. It makes me wonder if they said no becasue I am hard of hearing. I have applied to this place a couple of times and still no jobs.

Well, the next day at my job some silly old lady felt like she could be bossy asking me about a couch I was looking for price for customer. She asked if it was sold. I said someone wants it. She didn't believe me. I said, he's up there on register wanting it. Then she proceeds to say, that's what I wanted to know. Then several minutes later, I was up on register with a big line doing my business, and she asked "you didn't sell the couch." I said, "the person changed their mind." She came telling me that there was the couch she wanted for 40 dollars, and that it'd be 20 for her because it was 1/2 price day for seniors only. I said that the couch is 80 dollars, and that she'd get it for 40 today. She said she'd go back and check again. Well, she discussed it with some other woman, and she bought it. I hate the bossy people who know you're a cashier, and they ask if you're open when you're busy doing something else, but it's not busy on another line when there's another cashier. I don't do this to people ever. I don't care how busy or not it is. They don't realize how annoying they are because they smile oh so sweetly like you don't mind. Sometimes people pull you in all directions for different requests. I am not having a good mood, and I hate when a few people ask how I am on a bad day as if I am not allowed to have a bad day. I think when people are in a bad mood, they should be left alone.

It suck a$$. I wish it was easy looking for other jobs. My family's bugging me to get a better job than foods, grocery, etc., but there really isn't as of right now. I am planning to return to school, but I'd like to get the heck out of my current job to earn money to pay my things.

Lisa's daughter needs to learn that what happens at work, stays at work and not to be mentioned to her family members. Granted, you are sorry and felt bad, but, what Lisa's daughter did is not ethical, either. I would have a nice chat with the business' manager, on the phone or in person, and tell him/her what happened and that you are greatly bothered about their employee telling family members. If her darling daughter can't deal with the general public and stab them in the back to their family and friends, perhaps she shouldn't work in retail.

Lisa's daughter also needs to know two rules, not only in retail, but in any business.

Rule #1: The customer is ALWAYS right.
Rule #2: When in doubt, refer to Rule #1.

Without the customer, people in retail would not have a paycheck. Lisa's daughter should have just let it slide off and not be bothered by it.

On another note, regarding the credit card that didn't go through, the daughter could have handled it more discreetly. When I am handed one and it doesn't scan, I enter the numbers by hand. If it still doesn't go through, I say, "The computer doesn't seem to be working on this one. Do you have a different card?" That way, if people are standing and waiting, they don't know the card was denied (embarrassing for customer) :o Remember, we don't want the customer to get upset at our business, right? The customer might even be happy that the employee handled it with discretion and the result is: repeat business! :)

yeah sometimes I have to deal with customers like that... but I basically let other co worker take care of them when they don't want my help when they found out I'm deaf :ugh3:

I don't think that venting about such a scenario is anything illegal. What's illegal is sharing anything that would put you in competition with other stores such as prices, etc., but customers....pffff! There's no rule about that. Retail isn't counseling or interpreting services. It's public, so customers attitude is what people hear too. At my store, the manager doesn't take crap from people when she knows they are being real stupid and ripping the store off.

same here, I was wrote on box paper and told them that I'm deaf then they ignored me and walked away, that make me like WTF at them because they are afraid of deaf people. One manager told me that one consumer did complain to her about me and want ask to fire me because of deaf but she can't fire me cuz of ADA, that protect me, fuck to some consumers.

i work sometime at my dad's store as a manager. One time my dad was there at the store taking care of paperworks. I was the manager and the employees was around. so i just basically did some work here and there. Apparently one customer was not statisfied with the sandwich (we owned a fast food sandwich restuarant..similar to subway). So since the employee ask for my help, this lady saw me that i was deaf and was like i do not sign language and talked really slowly. i acted professional and told her that i can normally and you do not have to talk really slow for me to understand. So, she felt i was wasting her time and want to talk to the real manager. I told her i am the real manager. She was saying, i want to talk to that guy ( my dad), i told her that he is busy at the moment and she'll have to deal with me because i am the manager on shift. She was pissed and all. She said you shouldn't work here this and that i am not fit to be a manager. I told her " ma'am, just tell me what is your problem and i can fix it for you. So other costumers can order their food." She proceeds to yell at me, my dad came and was like "what is going on" she told my father that i am not a real manager and would like to see my license or certificate. My father told her to leave the store and do not want to do business with her. I gave her a refund and told her to leave and not come back again.

guess what? all the customers who were waiting in line and were eating began to "boo!!" her as she leaves.

Wow...never experienced working in retail but after reading your experiences, I dont think I would want to!

ClearSky...good luck finding a better job! Sorry that u had a bad day with the customer. She does sound like a bully. :rifle:

Sorry about that.

There will always be losers in the world that do things like that.

There was one guy who was arrested for trying to pass off a flat screen television with a cheap barcode at Wal-Mart. Heh!

Seriously, I think these people are just assholes who have nothing better to do than give other people hell.
