Britney Spears Reportedly Weds in Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Pop star Britney Spears (news) marched down the aisle in Las Vegas on Saturday, marrying a childhood friend from Louisiana, according to news reports.


The 22-year-old diva married Jason Allen Alexander early Saturday at the Little White Wedding Chapel on the Strip, according to People.com, the online arm of the Time Warner publication. He is from Kentwood, La., it said.


The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on its Web site that Spears and Alexander, 22, were granted a marriage license, citing an affidavit of Application for Marriage License filed Jan. 3.


Calls to Spears' representatives were not immediately returned.


The bride wore jeans and baseball cap, according to People.com, and had a hotel bellman walk her down the aisle.


People.com reported that Spears and Alexander journeyed to the Little White Wedding Chapel after a stop at the Ghostbar, a club in the Palms Casino Hotel. It reported that the chapel staff told the couple that they couldn't get married without a license, so they were reportedly taken by the limo to the Clark County Marriage Bureau office in the downtown Las Vegas courthouse. They applied for and were granted the marriage license, then driven back to the chapel, where they were married.


Spears released her fourth album "In the Zone" in November. It debuted at the top of the album charts. She begins a concert tour March 2 in San Diego.
 
Doesn't this cheapen/disrespect the institution of marriage?

This is the most informal wedding I have ever heard of. A bride in jeans and baseball cap with a hotel bellman as her "dad"?????

britney is stupid, christina is stupid, the ONLY decent poeple don't fuck around is the less attention seekers and keeps things under wraps
such as private weddings take jlo and ben affleck they WANT a private wedding and don't want poeple showing up with media they want it to be very speical but meida keeps fucking it up!
 
OMG ~ as soon as the ink stay dry on the marriage certificate, they cancelled everything! ~ Bet they are doing it for a laugh! ~ :crazy:

:werd: I think Britney has fucked up big time with her image and role model she was supposed to have shaped to look good for the younger female generations. She has been quite a disappointment and I lost respect for her when she came out like a doozy and all boozed up not too long ago -- maybe a year ago...after she busted up with Justin Timberlake.

Actually, I remember Britney not wanting to be viewed as a role model to the younger female generation.

Remember, Britney is a legal adult and she is free to make her choices. We can't tell her how to behave.

Yeah, you're absolutely right -- it's really entirely up to Britney on what she wants to do in her life as she's an adult. It's how the media and Hollywood and the music world has put her on the public pedestrial where it's expected of her to mandatorilly(is there such a word?) be a role model for those young generations.

Yeah, and besides—she’s really not doing anything that millions of other girls her age aren’t. I’m sure she’ll eventually grow out of it. We shouldn’t really hold her to higher standards just because younger girls emulated her, if she never suggested that they emulate her in the first place.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if the marriage was annulled soon.
