British Deafies and British Sign Language?

Hello! I would like to learn British Sign Language and that is hard when there's no spoken words I think. But with today's technology, there's Skype and other things that make it easier. I was wondering if there are any British Deafies that can help me with BSL? I know the alphabet up to K and I can say "My name B-e-c-k-i, but that's pretty much it.

Also, I was wondering if there are services provided for the Deaf in the UK? I know that in the US, with the ADA and work done by the NAD, it''s required that services are provided for the Deaf. I was wondering if accommodations for the Deaf only exists in the United States.
 
It's not a typo, I am legitimately interested in BSL. I am not here for childish games, I am seriously asking someone if they know anyone who uses BSL or can help me find where I can learn BSL. :)

I was just wondering....Cool that you're interested in learning it.....Just seemed kind of an obscure choice, since you're in MA, and probaly wouldn't have a whole lot of oppertunties to use it....But I guess it's like the way some people might learn Welsh, Cornish, or other minority languages that they might never use, just for fun.
 
Have you checked out BSL Zone?
All or most of the videos have English subtitles as well. I enjoy this site even though I am not learning BSL.

I am sure there are videos on youtube in or about BSL if you search for them.
for example if you search "BSL basics" -

not all the videos on Youtube (especially those by hearing signers) are going to be the correct and/or native BSL but there are plenty of good videos as well (I am guessing-I find this to be true for ASL; I don't know for sure about BSL)
 
DD, oh, all right! Yeah, I am in MA of course I would not get the opportunity to use BSL around here. It is still nice to know another sign language in case I ever go to England. :)

Thank you for sharing the links juniperarrow! :) I did see one video in BSL but I am not sure if it is accurate at all since that person was hearing. Of course it is helpful to hear the words and match them to the sign but then they are not Deafie. You don't know if they are actually using actual sign language!
 
Look for those videos without sound and with WRITTEN English words used for vocabulary. When you get more familiar with BSL (such as watching anything you find interesting with subs if you want on BSL Zone) you will pick up the difference between native signing and non-native signing. If a person in the video is signing and talking or mouthing everything at the same time, it is not native BSL. BSL doesn't follow the same grammar and structure as English. If the person signing does not speak and barely mouths words, seems to sign way too fast and has expressive facial and mouth movements (non-words), it is likely a native signer. I wish I could help more but I am not familiar with BSL.
