I remember one of my old classmate who had a bracelet that displayed that this kid was deaf.  That was in 1970's. I did make fun of him.   If it were me, I would not comfortable to put a bracelet on deaf kid.  But the phone number will do if this deaf kid doesnt know what number was. It depends on how deaf kid approaches people.
