Jesus Castaneda, 15, has been charged with armed robbery after he held up a man just two-miles from his home, police said.

This was Castaneda’s 19th arrest, and his second gun-related charge, according to police. He was arrested last August for unlawful use of a weapon.

At about 12:15 a.m. Saturday, Castaneda robbed a man at gunpoint in the 6300 block of South Francisco Avenue in the Marquette Park neighborhood.

The victim of the robbery knew Castaneda by the nickname, “Little Rowdy.”

Police have had “several encounters” with Castaneda. They picked him up Wednesday afternoon in the 7500 block of South Phillips Avenue.

Castaneda is due in court Thursday.

Charge him as an adult and be done with it. 19 times is way too much. Whatever happened to the 3 strikes and you're out?
 
what's strange to me is the victim knew who the robber was...and he had a gun...and knew the victim could identify him...any other robber would have killed the man....so wondering if there might be some help for this 15 yr. old kid....and what he needed the $$ for.

The boy should have been helped or put in the system when he first got in trouble. That is whats wrong with the system. They get slapped then thrown right back in a bad situation. Now that he is arrested for the 19th time perhaps it's time to do something. The kid is obviously disturbed.

Sadly.. this is a sign of "broken" family.
 
He needs very, very long jail time.

The criminal court system is flawed.

After 3 strike of felony crime - supposed to be in juvenile until 18 and transfer to adult after 18th birthday.
 
19 times!? Too much! You would think that after the 3rd time, something would be done.
 
19th time at age of 15? Wow.

Unfortunately, he fell through the crack in the system. Why wasn't rehabilitation offered in the first place? If that was done, there may have been a chance for him to straighten up, who knows?

what 19 times? that is the norm in Chicago.... 15 year old so what? This is a its of corrupt politicians and high murder rate this should not shock anybody in the city.

Just an example of one out of thousands juvies with this type of rap sheet the citys just trying to increase awareness of whats been going on for decades :giggle:
 
When you said Chicago, it became more sense to me. In the area where this scumbag lived and raised has the most strictest gun control law. Because everybody knows that not many would carry gun so in order for them to survive, they would do anything no matter what law said.

It proves that system have failed, Chicago needs to forget the gun laws which they already have done and focus on community needs. I think the damage is too far to be fixed economically wise. It may take few generations to clean up the mess.
