The recent thread by TTT regarding menstrual cycles got me digging up one of my favorite books, Red Tent, by Anita Diamant (which tells the little-known Biblical story of Dinah, daughter of the patriarch Jacob and his wife Leah and sister of Joseph - to be found in Chapter 34 of the Book of Genesis) to read again last night.

Red Tent was a term used for women menstruating and would gather in a large red tent for one week where they would just lay around, read, eat, sleep, pamper themselves or chat around with other women.

This book is awesome - if TTT ever comes across this post, she might want to read Red Tent to get a better understanding of how glorious menstrual cycles can be. Nowadays, women think it is a bothersome timing but it is really a timing for women to nurture themselves.
