Books that been banned in USA

lol I've read most of these books at pubilc library when I was a kid.

if you look at the year these books were banned.... I've already read them after they were banned.

Yeah I know some where banned from schools or difference states , someone brought the subject on a thread so I started a thread about banned books if people wanted to talk about it. I know when books are banned it make people want to read the book even more . Girls were reading 'Tropic of Cancer' in boarding school in Maine and hiding the books so the house mother would not see it.
 
The thing aboit banning is, it is not always national... moat of these books even state it was a school or a state... some do not say juat sat it was banned... that could mean anything...

different sects of society rather than country...I went straight out and bought Stanic Verse when I saw it being burned
 
Go set a watchman by harper lee came out today set to be all time best seller hundred five thousand been sold last 24hours in UK.I not sure if it was ever banned

I could not be banned b/c it just been put on the market , who know someone might find something in the book they don't like and want it banned . A watchman was watching the books to made sure no one tried to steal any before they hit the market , are you going to read it ?
 
I thought she either wrote it twenty years a go or wrote twenty years after mockingbird I know scout is twenty years older...twenty is the key thing....I hope royalties go towards harper getting better care in nursing home

She wrote Go Set a Watchman in the 1950s (so about 60-65 years ago), she wrote To Kill a Mockingbird not long AFTER that book and was published in 1960.
 
I don't think it's an error. It's possible for a writer to write a book with an adult character then later write a second book with the same character 20 years younger.

To Kill a Mockingbird takes place in 1933-1935- so I can see it possible for Harper Lee to have already written a novel set in the present time (at the time) of the 1950s which would make Scout in her 20s.
 
That is the beauty of being a writer you, can bring a character back life or have a character tell about their past while they 20 or 100 years older.
The writer has complete control over their character's lives .
