Hello everyone!!

I have been reading this board and find it pretty interesting.

My name is Kevin P.

I am deaf 30 years old ( just turned 30 on 13th of Decemember) living in South Florida in Fort Lauderdale. Working full time as leader hotel reservation dept (it's office handling multi contracts with travel agency that their guest book in our resort in Paradise Island.

I used to hang out with deaf people in Gainesville but somewhat I got in trouble several of times with them so I thought I better vanish to another State which was California and lived there and didn't like it and my grandmother was very illness so I decided to move back in centeral Florida to help her. Until I found my lover here in Fort Lauderdale so I moved down here and we have been together for 4 1/2 years and no he is not deaf. He is hearing. I have not met any deaf people lately so I wanted to meet new people and get know them and talk about general thing.

I notice that many deaf people do not have Ojo (Snap!VRS) Why not?? I just got mine couple of days ago and yes I had to wait 4 or 5 month but hey it was worth it. It's very nice and easy to use. All you need was modem cable which you use your computer with. I am using one for work right now, it is very helpful than tty.... For example I make call to Snapvrs to one of our client and working on computer at same time. It's much quicker than tty. I do know the other one that is box that sitting on top of tv which is too much hassle for my work cuz i cannot have tv sitting on my desk LOL otherwise I will be watching shows instead of working :)
Many says that Ojo cannot make calls to other VP which is not true. They can all they need to do is dial the IP number. I suggest everyone get ojo instead. Very friendly customer service too, easy access, quick service, impressive look, can be place on any surface, and it's newest tech!

Anyway if anyone want to chat with me on vp let me know :)

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. WOW! You are good, as for me I don't have VRS because I am just an old Deaf lady. I am use to TTY and maybe I will start on the VRS in the future as soon as I could afford to get service and put a modem cable on the computer. I have only been on the computer for two years. I am new to it, but I am catching up and doing pretty good at it. I am loving it very much especially when I want to talk about our deafness and what we can do to stop the oral and things like that. So welcome aboard and have fun, Kevin.

welcome and enjoy! I don't know anyone else with hearing problems personally besides one 17 year old boy and he has cochlear and talks to me rather than signs so I would have no one to do the vrs with.

Welcome to alldeaf.com!

I'm curious why you don't like California? Which part of CA? I've always wanted to live in San Diego or San Francisco area, maybe someday.

I actually do like living in Los Angeles, mostly for shopping and food. But living in the city can be pocket digger. Plus I had no luck with job there only at min wage so I thought why not move back to florida for short time, plan to move to NYC but I happen to met someone in south florida and we fell in love so we decided to stick together in ft lauderdale.

Where I really would like to live? London, England. It's beautiful place there, I went there for 2 weeks on vacation and OMG love it there. Too bad I'm not single right now because I could just ask my company for transfer to London, simple like that.

SF is beautiful place!! I would love to live there but I've found stable long term job here, who know I will find better job in near future.

Where r u from Sunshinelady?

I LOVE LONDON! my husbands mother has a house in almost downtown London. She works for the BBC there I don't remember her title now but when I met hubby on internet she was working as international director of DVD and video and she would go all over the world researching and looking at video stores and seeing how they distribute their stuff so she could get the British stuff to be more likable in their shopping markets, like coming to see us and stay for a few days to see how the local Blockbuster is set up and watch TV to see how they advertise movies. His Dad was a librarian for like 25 years. and hubby (Tony) is a computer engineer. He works as I.T. manager over a corporation called Birmingham Fastener here in Alabama. They have 9 branches in different states. Any way what I meant to say is that I spent four of the greatest months of my life in England and would love to be there but it is just to darn expensive. maybe one day We can go back together but for now it is easier on us to stay here.:D:wave::gpost:

I was born in Lansthul (spelling?) and my brother was born in Stutgard (again, spelling?) we were military brats. My Dad was in the army. We lived in Germany till I was about 6 1/2 years old. I remember little of the language but a lot about being loved in the community and everyone always being open and honest about everything, no false happiness just honesty. Also I met my husband on hte internet and we got married in 2000. He is from Stockport England.
