From my own observation, most retirees prefer to live in and around Crossville/Fairfield Glade, which is located just within hours from Knoxville, Chattanooga and Nashville-Davidson. The Crossville area is pretty much rural. You can find some good retiree communities on the outlying areas of Crossville, Chattanooga and Knoxville.
