Hi all

I am single sided deaf due to acoustic neuroma. How bad is the implantation procedure? I had every complication in the book from the tumor surgery so I am really gun shy at having my head messed with. I am finding there aren't that many downsides to SSD except that I have developed issues with my "good" ear as well. I am 50 and retired from practicing law so I don't need it to work (but thinking about going back to school to get MS in forensic psych...). I have heard about rejection of both CI and BAHA for people with immune problems-I have lupus. Anyone out there know anything about this? Thanks for any info!

BAHA just puts a little titanium screw in the side of your skull for the implantation.

So the worst that happens is the screw works it's way out.

And I believe titanium is extremely hypoallergenic.
